Brought driveshaft and both front CV's to a driveshaft repair guy last week. He told me the front CV joint on the front driveshaft of KJs go out all the time and that he fixes about two a week.

Sure enough we found a small tear in the rubber boot on the front end of the driveshaft and the joint was a little wobbly. Instead of replacing the whole driveshaft he cut off the factory end and welded on a U-Joint with a Spicer greasable bearing. Says he does this for all his repairs and never had one come back yet. Cost was $250 which is a lot but not too bad if it works.

I suggest you paint your driveshaft or put some sort of coating on it. That bare weld and the toe of the weld will start to rust realll fast.

Good thinking! The toe?

I do like some Rustoleum Red on suspension parts!

The toe is where the base of the weld meets the base metal.
Rust usually gets real bad there if it goes untreated and often breaks at the spot.

Good idea... buddy of mine painted his hubcap with a swirl on it. Looked really cool while he was driving.

you figure 250.00 is alot. Buy a new Front DS from mopar and it will cost ya at least 500.00

If this mod weld holds up, I would say its a good deal. U-joints are cheap! CV's are not
