| Post subject: | Bad tire wear need some advice. |
I have had my revo's on for around 3 years now. I have gotten terrible outside tire wear vs. the inside of the tire. I have around a 2 inch lift and after i got my lift and tires i had it aligned. Then i started noticing the bad tire wear about 6+ months later. Too late to save the tires... Anyway my question is I am getting new tires on tonight but I want to know if an alignment is going to fix the problem or if i need to start looking at new upper A arms to get the tires more flat? It seems like when i crank my wheels those tires are REALLY sideways... I don't want to spend 600+ $$$ on new tires only to have the same problem... Advice? |

If the Shop understand what they are doing then an alignment will fix the issue. But if they try it and see that they can not adjust it enough, then yes you may need new A-arms to help move the tire out more. Also if you off road at all, you should get a life time alignment and get it adjusted every 30 to 60 days or after each off road event you do. Rock, curbs, pot holes and driving really messes up alignments. |

I used to do some light off-roading but have not done anything anytime soon. I will have them TRY to align it and they can tell me if they can get it to work or not i guess... |

You should always have your vehicle aligned at least once a year, pot holes and such can knock out the alignment even if it still drives good(just enough to wear tires funny).A few week ago I aligned a brand new '09 Toyota Tundra a guy bought and wanted to just buy a lifetime alignment package, the truck had like 65 miles on it and was pretty out of alignment for being a brand new vehicle. |

The outside edges of tires always wear out first. Low tire pressure. Mis-alignment. And turning corners..... Alignments and rotations will extend the life of tires so make sure you do them. I used to do alignments on new vehicles all the time. You'd be surprised how bad most of them were. |

My KJ gets an alignment every year, and I rotate my tires every 6,000 miles yet I still get wear on the front tires / outside edge. This, I believe, is caused from countless turning that you do everyday while driving. |

I've had my kj aligned over 6 times this year.... Probably because Mudd and I keep changing things around.... I'll be due for another one early next month... |

would it be an alignment issue if your tire wears on the inside? |

Got my alignment done today and found something interesting... My Caster and camber were exactly spot on however my Toe was WAY off. Before LF was .25 and RF was .35. It's supposed to e .04 - .16. I am still leary that my new tires wont wear the same as my old ones did. I told the guy that the outside was wearing terribly and he "said" that toe should take care of that. Then Told me that since its lifted I will have more body roll? Ok whatever. I will let it go for a few hundred miles but still not convinced that its resolved... |

Understood but what he was explaining was cupping of the tire that toe would wear.. i wasn't having cupping rather uneven wear from outside to inside. The outside was wearing much more than the inside. Will toe still affect that? |
