| Post subject: | Back Up Sensors |
Does anyone know about adding backup sensors to the KJ? I say this on ebay and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. The g/f isn't that good of a 'backer upper' if you know what I mean. Any info is greatly appreciated. |

I don't have any experience with that particular model, but I've used a bunch of other backup sensors. Most of the time, they drive me CRAZY! But that one time it keeps you from backing over the wandering neighborhood 3-year-old... I like the fact that the one you're looking at appears to show changing distance. Most of the ones I've dealt with just start beeping when something is within 5 feet of the bumper and just keep beeping until there's nothing back there. I wish I could see the rear bumper sensors on that system though...some of them are pretty darn ugly. See if you can find some reviews of the thing online. I can't even find a manufacturer's name listed on that link. Good luck! BTW - Nice stable...a KJ and an SVT Contour! |

I used to be a rep for a sensor co. (Echomaster). Their sensors are a three stage design; 1st tone, beeping, for 6 to 4 feet. 2nd tone, slightly faster, for 4 to 2 feet. 3rd tone, steady, for 2 to zero. The biggest problem we encountered is they kept picking up the spare tire, even though I put them in where the factory said to. |

Hmm I have never had that problem. Does it show the sensor fan? Maybe you can twist the sensor so the fan does not pick up the spare tire. I have installed several of the LED sensor sytems in Lamborghini Gallardo. One we had to go back and install a color camera after the wife backed into a flower pot, first time out. She prefers the camera now,. women and their cars. Yes it was HERS. Most of the sesors we install front and back for car are around 200-250 USD. We did a 2005 DB9 as well. Something about cutting holes into someones brand new not delivered $150,000 exotic I find pleasing. Although is is a shop desicion to cut the hole AFTER everyone agree's on the spot. A naked Gallardo looks like an erector set with the skin off btw. LOL |

I've tried to rotate the sensors with no success. Echomaster had me use a four sensor kit. Their reasoning was to get full coverage, keeping in mind it is a US vehicle - therefore having the left side recessed plate mount. |
