Well, the time is near. My battery will be meeting its demise here soon. It struggles when it starts up and I've already had to be jumped once about a week ago. I'm looking to find a good battery, but not an expensive one.
I've already looked at optima's and those are way to expensive for me.

I've been looking at duralast batteries. Probably the Duralast gold, instead of the red topped one. Or maybe an Everlast from walmart since those are cheaper and I get a 10% discount there.

Any suggestions?

and the everstart max gives you up it 800CCA and 875CA not too shabby, plus a 3 year warranty with exchange at any walmart, which are many aplenty so if it fails take it in and there you are with a new battery, free...

Why did you say that? I had one in my TJ for a little over 6 years when I sold it, which is outstanding here in the desert southwest. I just bought one for my KJ and JK. The Red Top outlasted any battery I have ever owned....

the duralast gold is 1000ca and 900cca, 3 year free replacement and an 8 year pro-rated warranty. I think they are about $80.

I'm 5+ years on the redtop in my TJ... no issues at all, and expect to get another several years out of it (but I have a solar trickle charger on it, too, the Solargizer like the Army uses).
That said, I'd always presumed I'd be getting an Optima for my KJ when it was 'due', but was looking at WalMart's Maxx whatevers tonight... $80 or so and it's kind of a deal. The biggest plus I see to the Optima's is the ability to flop your Jeep and not douse battery innards all over yourself and your engine compartment... it's bad enough with oil dribbling out everywhere when you do that.

Well it turns out the duralast that was in there was only 2 years old. So I took it to auto zone and got it replaced for half price of a new one since it was under warranty. But it wasen't a free replacement warranty since my dad didn't get it. Total was like $44. So I got a brand new redtopped duralast.
