I know you didn't ask this, but I don't think you should get a redtop. Why do you need a new redtop? If yours failed already do you think the next one will last any longer? |

Optima's are way better then a wet celled battery and I'd rather replace a Optima every year(for free) then run a wet cell battery for 3-4 years.I'd never run a wet celled battery again personally and would highly recommend a dry celled battery like Odyssey batteries.

Well according to the Optima website you should buy a #25 or #34; http://www.optimabatteries.com/battery_selector/ Sort of off topic but unless you're operating a winch do you really need a high performance battery? |

Thinking back to my driving experience last night, in which I passed (huge traffic backup) an FJ Cruiser laying on its side in New York, I'd say in general anytime you tilt your vehicle over, or upside down, you'll have a lot of problems and plenty on your mind. Adding spilled battery acids to the mix is not something I'd rather have to think about at that particular time. Gel-celled batteries that can operate upside down or on their side, like the Optima, offer the ability to right your vehicle and carry on about your business. (presuming your engine oil didn't all spill out and catch fire) |

While the KJ's electronics control the alternator output and all voltage, having a battery with a bigger CCA / CA capacity means you can leave the vehicle off longer [with accessories running] and still be able to start up. Also the optima's can be fully drained, recharged, drain, recharged and still not die. Finally, that extra cranking reserve comes in handy in the winter when the cold air zaps all batteries to near breaking point. The 2003+ model years get the group 34 sized Optima. I think the 2002's can cut the battery tray to fit the group 34 [the 2002 battery was smaller] or you can get a group 25 that'll drop right in. I have the group 25 in my 2002 and while it's "smaller" than a group 34, the Optima battery provides around a 200CCA boost from the OEM group 25 battery which was only rated at 525CCA. |

Get the 34. (advertising agencies claim that a message needs to be heard three times to be remembered. just thought I'd be helpful) |

If you do a search on batteries. You will find more issues with Wet cells vers Dry Cells. Optima makes a nice battery... So do others. with 40% you can be sure that nothing else will be better for the price.... Enjoy your new 34 red top... |

i don't have a winch now and probably wont' for a year or so... and my lighting situation will be much different as soon as I get a front custom bumper from somewhere... no idea where though! I think for now the redtop will be the choice. |
