| Post subject: | MY FIRST POST AND THE END OF MY LIBBY!!! |
You guys will never believe my luck. I finally get around to registering with the forum, as I will be the first to admit that I am more of a forum READER than I am a POSTER. So I finally register to join in on the conversation when my Libby becomes the victim of a construction accident. A truck was pumping tar via a hose near my Jeep when the hose popped and sprayed my entire Jeep with ultra hot road tar. She has been totaled out by the insurance company
I bought a new Jeep today, went with a YJ but I intend to continue visiting this site as my Libby has been good to me for the past three years+. Tip to everyone - PARK FAR FAR AWAY FROM CONSTRUCTION SITES!!! Initial pic of my new toy

That's a freaky accident! If you had protected the windows and got them to finish the job you could almost call it DIGGERIZED! |

Yeah, never seen anything like it. It was a total loss. SUCKS, but I got a good deal on the TJ so I'm not too upset. |

Was the whole thing covered with tar or just the front? Not seeing the whole totalled bit, I mean you have a roll over and they put in new parts and give it back to you. High mileage or something? My step father rolled his and the only original part was the left front fender after it was repaired |

most states or insurance companies have a clause where you can buy your totaled vehicle first bid, i'd atleast check into that i've actually done it once or twice with that type of superficial damage, insurance pays you, ya buy a new YJ, buy your totaled vehicle back, a little elbow work later and you've got a trail rig that you don't mind gettin scratched up |

Yeah, its hard to believe they totalled it but almost every panel had a thick layer of tar. It woulda beem hard to repair it. They say the cost outweighed the value of the vehicle. What u gonna do? It did have high mileage though, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. |

Sucks about your KJ! However, don't forget to visit the Wrangler section and share your build, mods, etc. on your TJ. |

That is one freaky accident, I've never heard of anything like it happening before. Good thing insurance actually covered your loss. On the plus side you'll find more support on the aftermarket side for your TJ. |

That is freakish!!!! I can't believe it a total loss but then Tar is tough to remove and that much of it with time to settle in and bake to the body would be trouble. The new Jeep is Nice! Its good you could get paid out so fast and get a new jeep. |

Wow that sucks but it looks like it worked out for you in the end, that's a sweet TJ. Where are you located? That picture of your new Jeep looks an awful lot like Carbone Jeep in Yorkville, NY... I'm in New Hartford! |

I'm in New Hartford! Actually, I'm from NYC...home of jeep eating potholes and no trails whatsoever. For me to wheel I have to make roadtrips out of town, and hope I can get back if we break something. Hopefully, they will come to their senses and open Central Park to off roaders real soon...... |

On the plus side you'll find more support on the aftermarket side for your TJ. My buddy stuck in traffic in a construction zone years ago in his IROC Z with t tops got the cement mixer to dump concrete through his t tops, it covered him and about a foot of concrete in his Z before they got it shut down |
