Well unfortunately my motor's taken the big dump at around 100k. Will soon be putting in a Jasper remanned and have a question about the oil pan for the KJ. Anyone know if there's a deep sump pan made for the 3.7L? Links or contact info? Thanx in advance. |

You could always go with a dual remote by-pass system which would increase your oil capacity. |

Yeah, thought about Amsoil's bypass set up but i'm more concerned that the pump is able to pump oil in severe off camber angles experienced when wheeling. If my understanding is correct, the deep sump pans hold more, true, but are also baffled so that in off camber situations the oil doesn't just slosh away from the pump thereby dehydrating it, and the motor, temporarily. If i'm wrong please correct here and explain. Anyway . . . not really sure what happened. i was getting oil indicator light periodically a couple weeks before trip to Badlands. Checked the dipstick and level looked perfect. Had an oil change anyway to be safe and a half day into our trek the following weekend the indicator light started up again. Noticed it rattling a little at certain RPM too but when i checked the dipstick, again it was fine. Called it a day and came home early just to be safe, dropped it off at the mechanic (who i trust) & he tells me he thinks the motors shot. He explained more that i won't get into here. Going w/the Jasper reman'd as they also look at known issues for the motors they reman and fix/upgrade. In the case of the Liberty Jasper uses an MLS gasket (multi layred steel) and machines the head and block to a higher standard to prevent collant from getting in the oil cavities. They're also cheaper than a Chrysler crate engine ($3,300 to $5,500) come w/a 3yr/100,000mi warranty (better than Chrysler's). Anyway, thanx guys for all the support & next time we meet my baby will have a new heart. |
