Post subject:  Optima Battery Rebate Scam??

Did anyone purchase an Optima Battery and apply for the $25.00 rebate offer that was good through Aug 31, 2009? If you have, did you get your rebate yet? The offer stated the turn around time to get the rebate was 6~8 weeks and I'm still waiting!! I did a Google and found others are also still waiting on their rebates too.

Just wondering if this was a scam??

Well, it's long past 6-8 weeks, even if they start counting at the postmark deadline, 9/15. Have you tried contacting them? I hate mail-in rebates.

Yeah, I have that number too. I'm calling them first thing in the morning. Just wondering if anyone here took advantage of the rebate and got their money yet.

Good luck, hope you get what they promised you. It's enough hoops to jump through already that it really stinks when they drag their feet on paying out. Of course it's probably some outside company that actually processes the rebates.

Usually that is the case. that a 3rd party handles the repate. best advice that I can give is what I learned after loosing a rebate because they said I didn't send in all the items required is this. Make a photo copy of everything you send them and keep it filed untill you cash your check.

I don't know why but since I have been doing that I have had HP try to burn my on a printer rebate and Motorola on a cable modem rebate, both were $50 or more. when I called them and got to talk to a real live person I was told both times I didn't get my rebate because I didn't include a UPC or a sales slip. Both times it was there and I told them I had a copy of what I send and that I sent it to them, upon them looking at the images of what I sent in they agreed it was there and send me my money. its like they are trying to keep your money to boost profit on the Promotion.

Now if they do that to 10% of the people that send in the forms how many forget about it in 6-8 weeks or never bother to follow up in were thier check is?

I think that mail in rebates are a scam in general. I once bought a canon camera and sent in a rebate form for a $200 rebate. I sent in all the info but I never heard back from the rebate company and I tried to contact them to no avail.

I just got off the phone with a lady named Diane, at a company called MDS. They are handling the rebates for Johnson Controls, the maker of Optima batteries. She said they have had a remarkable response to Optima's rebate program and are behind schedule. She checked my name and my two checks were cut this past Thursday and are being mailed out today.

So... if anyone sent in for a rebate on an Optima Battery prior to the program ending on 8-31-09, you can check the status of your rebate at:
