I wonder if it's tied to oil prices? Synthetic rubber is made from oil. Or are we competing with China for natural rubber? |

| Post subject: | Tire prices... |
Thank Obama. In his infinite wisdom, or lack there of, signed a 30% tariff on Chinese tires, to help level the field for domestic tire makers... Now they have a window to raise their prices and increase their bottom line. I've been shopping for tires for a month and can tell you it's buyer beware. Prices are all over the place. I finally located 4 Firestone Destination M/T's in 245x75R16, out the door for $735. Thank goodness the price matched the Internet, plus shipping. Otherwise it would have been $1001.70!! $96 of both prices is mounting, balancing, road hazard and front alignment... |

Not to get too off topic but it seems no matter which side you vote for the people of this great country get screwed. |

We can be as smart as we can. Buy the tires that last longer, purchased cheaper, do a better job. We can align our front ends, check tire pressure, and drive smarter. The days of wasting anything are over. |

Out here in the desert we don't need mudders as much as where it rains! Sunshine don't need knobs! I grew up in the mud of Maryland and I don't miss it! |

Yup, they do. But anything works on Nevada/Utah rock that's like sand paper. You can almost go straight up! When my stock Goodyear's wear out, I'll be looking for something along the lines of a blocky A/T with a round profile for traction in sand and rocks. Do you have any suggestions? |
