| Post subject: | '06 Renegade Light Bar & Heated Seats??? (Factory Order) |
Today we were factory ordering an '06 Renegade at our local Jeep dealer. We discovered that the factory will not install both the light bar and heated leather seats! The dealer offered to install the light bar at the dealership upon delivery. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you overcome it?? The only reason we could think of is that the alternator isn't strong enough to run both the light bar and heated leather seats at the same time. Does any one know if this is the case, or if it is something else (ie. not enough relay positions in the fuse box)? If someone with an '05 or '06 Liberty doesn't mind, could you check and see if there is a position in either of the fuse boxes for both the heated seats as well as the light bar. This seems very strange, and any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! |

I'm not sure about the heated seats, but I can run all of my lights in my '05 renegade (light bar, headlamps, fogs), have my music blaring (a system with a powerful amp and a 10 inch subwoofer) and not have a problem |

from what I have read and was told.. the lightbar and the heated seats use the same circuitry on the fuse box.. i dont see why they cant just add another but who knows.. i dont see any problem running them both.. besides.. how many times are you going to run heated seats AND your light bar?? I got all kinds of stuff running.. all lights.. light bar.. fogs.. radio blasting.. GPS.. radar..phone charger.. i dont think its the alternator.. |

Yes, I had the same problem with my 05 when I ordered it. I wanted the heated seats and the lightbar, but was told that it was too much draw on the alternator. I intended to install the lightbar myself, but for $400 I don't think it's worth it. Get the factory to install it on arrival. When you use the "Delete Light Bar" option, it's a -$150 credit on the invoice. Get the dealer to install the lightbar for that $150, and you're golden. You can't even buy the parts for the lightbar for that price. The heated seats are definitely worth it, though! Let me know where to look, and I'll check for you when I get out of work tonight. Also - if you want to take a look through the Factory Service Manual, send me a PM. |

Intresting... the Renegades have the 160 amp alternator, vs the 136? on the sport/limited... |

I think it really came down to "how many people are going to order a jeep with both of them?" and they decided that the number was too small to bother with. Let us know how it works out, I'm still thinking of getting the lightbar installed, so I'm curious if there will be any problems with it. (and yes, it is a 160amp alternator on the renny vs 136 on the other models) |

Hey! Thanks for the thoughts. On tuesday we finalized the order, which will have the Liberty arrive at the dealership with factory heated leather seats and no light bar. The dealer is then going to install the light bar at cost. I believe they are going to have to add a circuit for the light bar (which is why the factory won't do both the seats and the light bar, but is very easy to do). We'll see how it all works out in 6-8 weeks when it arrives...can't wait!! Does anyone know if the '06 Renegades still come with a 160amp Alt like the '05s?? -Jordan |
