okay... so on this link, the pics are not there...http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=7229 but what size is the tube and what size are the clamps in order to do this mod? (breather tube extensions) got some time to kill today when doing the oil change. |

I haven't done mine yet, but yesterday I bought 5/16" fuel line to do the job, upon instruction from 1996xj & Towstrap. They've done theirs with the same stuff. I was told 20 feet of it would do the trick. It will fully replace the existing tubing. Once they hand you the tube, get the appropriate sized clamps. |

also how does one connect the hoses? a piece of tubing? or does the new one fit over after you cut off the actual breather |

A couple brass hose unions work fine. you will end up using 15 to 20 ft depending on how you route the hoses |

size of hose? also, do you use the clamps to clamp the hose onto the union, or should it stay good enough? I just want to do this right the first and only time. I wish that the pics from the topic posted above would have worked so i wouldn't have had to ask so many questions. |

Why don't you just pull off all of the old hose and use new hoses instead of Attaching fittings and extending the current hoses Chances are the old hoses are starting to rot anyway... I bought 20' of hose and a few hose clamps for under $30... and still have hose left over.... Just for craps and giggles try searching Breather and Extend... |

after finding all 4, I only see that the rear diff majorly needs to be relocated and possibly the transmission. the front diff is already as high as the battery, and i don't think it really needs relocating, nor do I really think that the t-case does. Am i seeing this correctly? |

well... the problem with replacing all 4 of them is that they sell them by the foot here... 5/16 tube that is. and it is expensive when you add them up. The rear diff is easily replaceable. |

Then having to clean the diffs with parts cleaner etc and new diff fluid... If your lucky and don't mess up the bearings ect.... It only takes 3-4 feet per differential.... It's not that big of a deal.....unless you plan on going through lots of water or mud. If you can't afford it... Don't do it....Just stay clear of deep water etc.... That's all I have to contribute... Good luck I'm going to the Ohio Chat room where breathing is easier!

I replied to this thread, then realized it didn't take, so replied again and walked away...still didn't take! WTF Right after you said "1.30 per foot" I said something like: I got it at O'Reilly Auto Parts for $0.60 per foot yesterday. Clamps were a few bucks for a little pack of them. You want to do the whole hose, the old hoses are prone to drying out and cracking, so I've heard. Even at 1.30, 20' is $26, definitely cheap insurance. x2 about the one that already reaches the battery. |

okay... i will bite the bullet and if it is that price at oreilly's I will replace them all... now two questions. 1. how does one remove the hose from the stock positions? just pull hard? 2. does one reuse the old "breathers" or does one purchase new ones... if so where? and yeah the posting thing is still messed up b/c i posted a new thread awhile ago and i couldn't find it. |

I re-used the stock ones. I located the rear diff up by the fuel door. I had to drop the tranny on mine since there was only a button on top and I extended all the rest of the breathers up the the firewall with a single loop so the all look like 6's. |

I made a distribution block, ran the rear, transfer, trans and front dif to it and then ran a single line to a self made breather, and attached it to the inside body between the battery and the fuse block. the main distribution block is attached to the unidody drivers side, centered by the transfer case. Sorry no pictures. |
