Was cleaning out the ’02 Libby the other morning and after removing the Husky liner, I noticed that the carpet and floor mat were both wet. I pulled the mat out and water was literally draining off the carpet. Further inspection of the floorboard carpet revealed that not only was the carpet wet, but frozen due to the recent low temps. I smelled the liquid and it did not have any noticeable odor. It doesn’t get driven much anymore, maybe 10 miles a couple times a week.

Does anybody have any ideas on what it might be? Possibly frozen and burst line? I didn’t see anything that out of the ordinary.

I recall there being an issue and several threads on this years ago. I didn’t see anything in the search that might be useful.

Thanks much. Mike

Do you have a sunroof? If so check the drains. If not is your coolant low?

Nope, it's to poor of a jeep to have a sunroof. doesn't even have window regulators either. :pepper: I'll check the coolant level see if that might be the culprit.

X2, sunroof drains get filled with dirt, algae, and other debris and back up (on lots of vehicles). If they back-up, the water will just run down inside the uniframe/trim panels to your floorboards. A quick burst from a compressor is often enough to clear things out.

It may be condensate overflow from the HVAC system due to a plugged discharge hose on the firewall. If the liquid is clear and has no smell or stickyness like coolant, that's a good bet. I'll look for a pic if you need it. Maybe someone else knows where it is. I know it's hard to get to, maybe from below is easier.

x3 on the HVAC drain, more problematic with some vehicles than other

a 2 hr drive in my previous car with the AC on and the passenger would be sloshing around in 2 or 3 inches of very cold water

A pic would be nice. My brother's KJ has a leak of some kind. The passenger side floorboard is damp and smells only like mildew. No chemical. The first thing I thought was condensation since he doesn't have a sunroof.

Although, his KJ was totaled before he purchased it, so it could really be anything. I would just like to start looking for a solution.

Just open the hood
look down the fire wall on passenger side
you'll see a rubber ' L ' shaped hose
about 3" inch's long sticking out
from the fire wall, the ' L ' part of
the hose will point down, that's the HVAC
drain outlet.

Hope that helps.

The 02's didn't come with the hose, at least mine didn't. There was a TSB issued stating that the lack of the hose could cause the drain hole to become clogged and cause water to drain to the passenger floor. It recomended to clean out the drain and install the L shaped hose to prevent future blockage.Mine never clogged but I picked up the hose from the dealer and put it on for a little preventive maintenance.

Had this problem with my 04 only I noticed it when it was raining so I tracked the leak down as soon as I noticed it. The windshield was leaking at the top near the right corner and it was following the pillar down to the floor board on that side. I double checked this with a garden hose and a buddy. I was able to use some sealant made to reseal windows in just such this occasion. I also discovered it was running across the fuse box on that side as well  Good luck finding your leak I hope it this helps!
