Lordy.. another on the way

Just found out my wife and I are expecting our second youngen. Waited 29 years and now I'm having 2 w/ 3 years. Lordy!! Now the wife wants a bigger vehicle.

What do you all think I should get. Libby just isn't going to have enough room. I don't think I should take less than $20K. Do you think I can get it? My Libby is an 05 Renny that is in pristine condition.

I would never sell a jeep for just 2 kids. Plenty of room for two. Never, ever listen to the wife when it comes to selling the jeep!! :twisted:

The back seat will not fit 2 carseats. We have the one in the middle of the back seat and it takes up a lot of space. Believe me... I was just getting ready to hook this Jeep up. I absolutely love it. Now she wants a 4Runner.

A 4 runner ain't gonna be THAT much better! When I was a kid, my parents had a Renault LeCar and then a Chevy Citation! Then again, my sis and I are 5 years apart... not as big a deal for space...

My mom's 4runner had no more interior space than my KJ does. now, cargo room, not by much, but there IS more.

I have 2 Kids in car seats in my liberty there is plenty of room. When we did the test ride we took the kids and put the car seats in the back of the liberty to make sure they would fit. We generally take the Liberty when we go on family trips. We only take my Wife's Rendesvous when we need more room in the cargo area. If you have to get a bigger vehicle the Commander looks like a great vehicle.

I have two kids in the back. They fit. Not much room left for an adult in the rear, though. But, that's OK. Two up front, two in the rear.

Besides, when they grow older and use booster seats, there'll be more room.

Yes, I take the whole family off-roading in my KJ, kids, carseats, milk bottles, diapers, and all. We've taken some nice long trips from Irvine to Grand Canyon, and San Francisco ... can't complain about the comfort.

Hate to break from the topic, but JeepJeepster....why would you rather push a buggy than own a Toyota? They make the best vehicles for the price.

My parents owned a Maverick (one car) for many years, before getting a second car, and my sister and I sat in the back seat just fine. I think people have gotten too cushy with having things. The KJ is more than enough room for a family of four. Once they get to seven and eight years old, the sports equipment for them might start to fill the KJ unless they go with musical or literal routes. LOL!

my mom has a toyota corolla and it has sucked. Its only got 111k on the clock and the front 2 wheel bearing have went out, the starter is currently out, and the check engine light has been on since we got it at 40k for the evap system. More trouble than i can take. Our 94 grand cherokee has 157k and its had the fuel pump and water pump. It also has towed our boat everywhere it goes though. Whats funny about a 4runner, the inside looks the same as our corolla. Down to the door handles and door locks. Probably has the same 1.8l engine too, lol jk. :lol:

Sure it gets great gas mileage, but i just cant take the quality.

My brothers xj has 60k and weve not done a thing to it other than the oils and plugs. Best jeep ever made i think, or engine and drivedrain at least. The windows and fallen down twice and needed a new regulator.

Maybe you've already done this, but I'd recommend getting both car seats and seeing if they really won't fit at all. I know those rear facing infant car seats are really big, but the forward facing ones for older kids and the booster seats are a lot smaller. If your older one is near 3 then I would think they would be transitioning to smaller and smaller seats and then no extra seat over the next couple years.

I'm not sure the 4Runner is any wider inside than the KJ. It's longer overall, but it's almost all in the cargo space. You should haul the multiple car seats along to the dealer just to make sure all fits before buying anything.

As for toyota quality, my own experiences have shown it to be excellent. My mom has a 99 corolla with about 150k on it and has never had a problem. Oil, plugs, 1 new set of tires....I'm not sure she's even put a new battery in it. Back in college my sister had a 90 tercel with a 1.5L carburated 4 cylinder that she did not maintain well and it had around 190k on it before it froze up.

Lots of room inside for car seats, although I can not say that I have ever seen one with car seats in it, in fact most of them that I have seen I'm not sure even had seat belts in the back, those were much older, the new ones must. I am pretty loyal to American Brands but I would share the trail with a Land Cruiser.

I switch back and forth between booster and a Cosco. I prefer the Cosco for off-roading because it's got a 5-point harness and a real sturdy feel to it. The build-quality is superb. Supports kids up to 100 pounds.

If you don't stay with your KJ, check out the Commander. Plenty of room & your still in a Jeep, I'm gettin a headache hearing about toys.

i have a 4 1/2 year old and a 5 1/2 year old we have had the KJ for 2 years, it has enough room for 2 car seats and a double stroller, + shopping when doing a Mall Crawl

dont get rid of it yet

We had the rear facing seat in the rear of a Silverado Extended Cab Pickup and also an Infant seat. They all fit. We actually traded the Silverado for the Liberty to get more room for the Kids when they got into car seats and their legs got a little longer to give them more leg room. I think that a test fit would be a good idea. If you are considering the Toyota, do what I did, Take the seats to the dealer and do a test fit with your child.

i just had my nephews in the back with their car seats and my wife plugged in the middle. albeit, she could get the seatbelt but she is tiny. so if you need room for just 2 kids thats ok. but if anyone over 115 pounds wants to fit back their also, fuggedaboudit. get a commander you should have plenty of room in it.
