Hi

Just a few questions:

1. Does anybody have the specs on the standard shocks and coil springs at the rear of the 2005 2.8 CRD?

coil : unsprung height
sprung height
Shcoks: Length max in and length max out

2. how much heigher will a 265/70/26 tyre be compared to my 235/70/16?

Buying a suspension kit in my country is slightly costly and importing it is difficult as i dont get replies from American companies. I would be willing to pay the import and it would be cheaper to self import them.

As i am not getting satisfaction, I was thinking of making my own lift for the KJ. Have coil springs made will cost me R400 each vs OME HD @ R2000 ea. and then just sourcing a longer shock absorber.

for the front I will use the lathe to turn a clevis spacer.

I'm thinking of 3" lift without the use of tyres. Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks

the 265 is about 1.5 inches higher than the 235 , one is roughly a 29 inch tire the other is about 31.5

depending on the tire manufacturer design

my lift is just about 2.5 - 3 inches and with the pinch welds pounded and some heat gun modification to the front fender wells nothing rubs with my 255/70/16's on 1.25 inch spacers which is about a 30.5 inch tire and could probably run the 265's if i took the spacers out and trimmed the front fender liner a bit

most of use use conduit nuts for our clevis spacers if you have access to those, they're cheep and usually easy to find and since the clevis spacer is more like just a spacing gauge when reinstalling the coil-over into the clevis, the nuts them self are not load bearing

getting your own coils made sounds like the way to go for you, expecially if you plan to have much weight in the rear as even the OME rear coils don't seem to hold up well to heavy tools and a heavy rear bumper + a tank skid

I am located in South Africa.

To have the springs made takes a day. I do the custom lift up front, and then drive the car "uphill" to the springworks the next morning. That same afternoon I can pick it up and the made coil springs to level it out and add an extra ±400lb of weight carrying ability.

I have the stock rear spring CRD (2.5) size:

30,5 Cm. Your's will be shorter since mine is a pre-lowered KJ.

The stock shock won't do you any good when you lift...OEM on the right...Rancho (which you should use) on the left.

Did you check out Jeepinbyal.com? He ships all over the world. USPS so regular mail at good prices.

In order for 'them' to make you some front coils they better take in account that your 2.8 is very heavy and that your spring will have to have the same specs as the OME 790...500Lbs/inch...that's a pretty tough spring.

And they need to make them longer..this is an OME rear spring next to an OEM one standing on a 2.5" Daystar puck.

3" is in my book the highest you can go on a CRD without making life hard on the CV's. 245/75/16 will then fit nicely.
