I need to repace my whole exhaust system including my catalytic converter, I was thinking of adding http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-JBA_Performa ... .aspxthese headers. Has any one used them?

i know in the nitro ( KA) people have installed em... they help the most when you go with ceramic as it cuts down under the hood temps... form what i understand they help with performace but nothing crazy.. ( but thats any mod to the KJ or KK )

the headers help free it up as does a good exhaust, throttle body, CAI (not open box under hood like K&N or whatever, unless you box it in and seal it against the hood and install a vent or scoop ontop of it

all those things will free up and boost your power curve, bottom end, mid, or top depending on how you set it up overall

but until you mod the ecm/tcm there's a certain level you can't cross due to the computer fighting back and limiting you via the torque management

a cheeper but not as effective and not for all the same purposes as the headers would be to use wraps

I just got some here. http://www.ajusa.com/details/index/204/0/0/JBA+1930S
ThenI had them coated locally at http://www.powdercoat-it.com/sacramento-ceramic-exhaust-coating.html with Cerakote High Temperature Coatings. They look really good. I haven't installed them yet, but am looking forward to getting them in. I have the B&G flash, K&N FIPK, and Borla exhaust so I am expecting some gains. Next is the Fastman Throttlebody. 8)

Looks like you're on the right track absolutely

it's not a huge project to box in the FIPK and have it seal against the hood, depending on the year model and whether you have the flat hood or not it can be quite easy

boxing in the FIPK, sealing it against the hood then installing louvers or a low profile induction cowl or scoop would be the optimal method for actually making it a CAI

certainly sounds like you're on the right track tho ;)

planning on doing cams, heads etc too?

I would like to do cams but I need to stay on the good side of my wife for a while :5SHOTS:. She doesn't quite get the horsepower costs money thing, but she likes driving the Jeep. If a rebuild is in the future I will do it. There's about 140,000 miles on it now and it's still going strong.

I also need to find a way to replace my saggy Rustys coil lift with a :frankie:-lift.

sift through your local bone yards for awhile, i managed to get an entire engine/harness for about 400 bucks out of a KJ that had been rear ended (had about 28k on the engine) then dumped about 30X that on cams, heads, injectors, pistons etc

but other than the actual headers and the K&N, sounds like you'll be running what i'm running in mine at the moment the B&M ECM/TCMs along with the other upgrades, i bet she does like driving it :P

Are these actually available for 03 models now? I thought they had a fitment problem at the manifold.

I was curious too... So far Summit & AJUSA have them both listed for 03's...

Looks like I'm going to be saving pennies. :SOMBRERO:

Do they make them to fit an 06'? Thought they were for only the older models.

If your exhaust manifolds have the 2 stud flanges(output side) then the headers will work,if you have the clamp style flange they will not without modifications.

Anyone have any pics/video of the headers installed. I'm curious as to how they look & possibly sound when installed.

headers won't make much noticeable sound difference unless you run straight pipes w/o cats or a muffler

You know how crazy a 3.7 would sound with open headers.

Headers, highflow cat,and a Flowmaster with correct size pipes would be a great improvement over stock,HP and sound.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. I already have the flowmaster & K&N intake. Now all I need are the headers and it would sound awesome.
