Took the jeep in today for an oil change and new plugs. The service rep (precision auto tune) suggested the air induction cleaning service. Anyone have experience/advice? My kj is an 06 with 59k miles.

I've never heard of an "Air Induction Cleaning" service. Sound's like a rip off to me.

Precision lists it on their site as a "unique" service that only they provide.

From their website it sounds they're just cleaning the throttle body, which you can do in 10 minutes with a $3 can of throttle body/carb cleaner from any auto parts store.

A induction cleaning is a professional 3 part fuel injection cleaning system. The 1st step is a highly concentrated injector cleaner that is poured into the gas tank, more powerful then any store bought stuff, including SeaFoam. The 2nd part is the intake/valve cleaning which uses another highly concentrated cleaner that is sucked in through a vacuum line while the engine is running.A special bottle is used so you do not hydrolock the engine. The 3rd step is a throttle body cleaner, also used as the engine is running.

It's a very effective cleaning system, just alot better and more potent then SeaFoam.

I had that kind of cleaning done at Tires Plus when my cam and crank sensors were replaced by them. It did make my jeep run smoother and I did notice some better mileage. But that was on a 100k engine that I don't think ever had that stuff done.

The service that Precision lists on their site does not say anything about the fuel system, just the air intake system.

We introduce a special cleaning agent into the intake manifold with the engine running. This agent dissolves the carbon deposits, which are then emitted out of the tail pipe.
