I originally post this clip in the AZ LOST JEEPS forum. Each time I look at it, I just shake my head in disgust and bewilderment that there are actually people walking around with brains the size of a gnat. Even the people watching, filming and making comments are just as big of a fool as the idiot driving the truck for not stopping him. This video was taken at a popular 4x4 area a few miles Northeast of Phoenix in an area called Sycamore Creek. They never learn... here is a recovery in the same area in Dec '08 after some heavy rains that caused the normally dry Sycamore Creek to flood.. Glad to see they weren't Jeeps in either of the vids. That guy should get a beating just for being stupid and polluting the river!

| Not bright at all. Look how fast that water is moving. it is only simple laws of physics and hydro power that as the truck went deep the water would just take it. same reason they tell you not to drive into rushing storm waters, the water is powerfull and will carry your vehicle away. I learned that in drivers Ed way back in High School.... maybe they didn't pay attentin in class or dropped out and got one of those Good Enough degrees. |

There had to be a lot of gas and oil that got in the water and the guy could very easily have been killed when he tried to get out while it was rolling over. This is exactly the kind of story that makes headlines and gets things closed down for all of us. I've been in deep water before but never that deep and there is no way anyone should ever try something like that when the water is moving that fast. It doesn't matter how capable your rig is when it starts to float down the river. In a way I hope the guy was drunk. I'd hate to think there are many people out there that would do that sober.

If anything the only smart thing he did was to try drive a beater truck across a fast moving river and not a brand new stock JK. It's so sad to see somebody purposely violating the Tread Lightly rules. Sure I occasionally drive across a stream or through a puddle deeper than my axles but never a fast moving river in a Federal Park and never on video. |

Can anyone run the plates? I say we should all send him letters to his residence and thank him every time a trail is closed. Or better yet, every time people have to fight to keep trails open. What a jack. What a complete total Jack. I think if I was there rather than offering to help I'd call the park rangers. To clarify - I'd help the person if they were in physical harm - I just wouldn't help move the truck. I'm sure a wrecking company got a lot of money to do that. It's up there with drunk ice fisherman who fall asleep with the heaters on in their ice hut and leave their truck park just outside of the hut. It's at least $1,000 to get your truck off the bottom of a lake. I take that back, it's not up there, it's not even close. Those ice fisherman fell asleep, this guy was awake. What a Jack. And that's what grinds my gears
