Rear air Deflector

Anyone have one of these? Do they help keep the rear window clean? Does it look good on the Liberty or Not?

I saw one today on a different Jeep. It looked OK. I just don't know how clean it'll keep the rear window.

Im sure it would help some. But you must drill into the metal, very stupid design IMHO.

I installed one on my wifes Liberty, yes it works great keeps the rear much cleaner. I know drilling holes into the roof area doesn't make anyone feel confident. Mine came with good instructions and a template to get the holes in the right place. I did have to go out and buy a certain size drill bit for the inserts as I did not have the size stated in the instructions. ( be sure to drill smaller pilot holes first and don't hit the center punch to hard as to dent the body) We live in Northwest Washington and it has been raining steady for the past month its a record, anyway have not had any water enter the cab. I would recommend this deflector as it looks good and functions great.

Do you worry about catching it on a low hanging branch?

I have had one since I picked up my Jeep from the dealership 4 years ago. Zero issues. Never caught it on anything, plus the roof rails are higher than the rear air deflector.

Rear window air deflectors work GREAT for the purpose they are designed for: Keeping rain spray off rear windows of trunkless vehicles.

They'll slightly increase wind resistance and will add potential off-roading snag points. If it were metal...wouldn't care. But the plastic could break if a big enough branch grabbed it.

Appearance?...eye of the beholder.

I don't have one. Wouldn't mind having one..but I have a lot of other stuff I'd rather spend my $ on. Rear wiper isn't perfect, but it serves the purpose.

Haven't replaced the rear blade yet, but I need to. Only have 7500 miles on the truck and the rear wiper...well, let's just say I wouldn't accept the quality if it were on the windshield. I'd like to find something that could take the brutal transition from swing-gate to rear glass over and over again a little better than the stock blade has.

Certainly makes a person think about investing in the deflector and a good coat of RainX.

Ive got 17k on mine and the rear wiper is fine. Dont use it to often though. Rain-x is great!!

I like mine. It looks cool and does what it`s designed to do. If you want to see pics, click on the link in my sig. As many on this site can attest, I wheel my KJ alot and never had a problem with it.

Oh, I went the lazy way and let the dealership install it. Didn`t take long. :p

Where in the Northwest Washington are you, I just brought a house in Camano Island.

I just got my Liberty and Rain-X all the glass including the rear.

I have one on mine. It does seem to help with the dust and dirt, but I bought it more for cosmetics than anything else & had the stealer install it.

I had a branch get stuck in it once, but everything was fine. Not even a scratch.

Thanks for the info Guys, since you have to drill the body to install it I think that the Dealer is a good idea or there is a local customization shop (Waldoch) that I will check out.
