| Post subject: | Recommendations? Can't remove tie rod end |
Okay. I tried and tried to remove the tie rod end off on my passenger side. It won't budge. The Tie Rod bar wants to spin and my vise grips were as tight as I could get them on it but still wanted to turn in the mouth. Hammer tapped and sprayed PB break free (or whatever it is called) and still nothing. Gave up and put back together. Perhaps a new gigormous size vise grips will do better (especially with fresh new teeth). Any ideas? |

two pipe wrenches? have you tried sitting a space heater infront of it for a hour or so, they don't like to budge when cold usually ended up having to get a torch to heat them on the big trucks |

Garage was toasty warm for hours (door closed). Had a space heater blowing for a few hours before I started. |

I take it you are trying to remove the outer tie rod end? Let it soak with PB for a few days, spray the PB on morning and night for a few days and try again. If that does not work you will need the blue wrench(acetylene torch) to remove, don't try and force it to much since I have broken tie rod ends before using the brute force approach, then your SOL unless you have easy access to the blue wrench and vise. |

50/50 ATF + Acetone will work better. |

Thanks....I may have to just sneak in a grenade strapped to it and run like heck. The KJ can handle it....It's a Jeep. |
