I really can't see what's under/infront of me when I get into the jeep at night at the g/f's... lives out in the country. I am going to install some small leds... like 1 or 2 to see where I step at night. My question is, how do I get the lights to turn on when I unlock the jeep, but no use the inside light wires b/c then they would turn on when I rotate the switch inside to turn all cab lights on? Thanks and yeah I like lights.... so be it! |

your looking into doing puddle lights i assume... truthfully there is no way to do what your saying unless you run it to those inside wires... and have it threeway to a toggle... when your in the car hit the toggle and then turn on cabin lights and the outside lights one be tirggered... n before you get out flip the switch back... it's really the only way to have em come on the way you want |

Well you could always get a g/f that lives in the city Are these what you're thing of? ![]() http://www.realtruck.com/rampage_under_door_safety_light_kits/R141025P1C1T.html I wouldn't mind this idea. You could probably wire it into the under dash courtesy lamps to come on with the dome lights. Also I've seen a lot of LED ideas for marine applications that would work in a Jeep. http://www.yachtlights.com/cat--Courtesy-Lights--11 |

Please go into more detail on where / what you want and when you want them on. There is a way to do just about anything. If you know of a circuit "circuit A" that you'd like to wire them to, but then have them shut off when the key is turned (Circuit B = "accessory"), then wire the lights to circuit A, and have them pass through normally closed contacts on a relay (you'll have to hunt for this relay, but it is out there). Next, power that relay with circuit B. For circuit B, just jumper from one of the fuses that is hot only when the key is in a position other than off. This way when you turn the key, the relay fires, opening the circuit, and turning off the lights. I jumper a fuse for my lights: I only send power to the switches and relays if my key IS turned in some manner. Basically keeps me from walking away and leaving the lights on all night. If this is not what you're after, I'll need a little more detail. |
