Im going to replace my window reg. this week. I wanted to see what most of you have paid. I think the last time i got one done it was near $150 but I dont remember ever though I've replaced 6 or more only 3 under warranty. |

I threw a fit over the last set, paid $100 for the pair. Had 3 go in 11 months, 2 in one week, told them i'll be damned if they think i'll pay for 4 regs each year. If they believed in the newest "fix" then they need to be understanding. Somewhat worked. |

It will cost around $600 for the new part. They replace everything, including the glass. |

75 cents worth of painter's tape has been holding up one rear window for the past year. 20 bucks at a body shop to lock the front passanger's window. I have gone thru 9 or 10 in my 06. I refuse to pay 600 bucks FOR EACH WINDOW until I am sure the fix works. |

yea it is my driver window and im p#$@*d they want almost 500 to fix it. I think the jeeps days are numbered F#@K it. |

http://www.steigerperformance.com Try their fix and never replace the regulator again. The reason the stock one breaks is that the plastic the worm gear goes into on the carrier is weak. This one is steel. Put one in my port-side rear door a while back, and am very pleased. *EDIT* Looks like Steiger has replacements for fronts as well as back windows now. |

I see they have the front now! the last time this subject came up the front repair kit was still under devlopment and testing. I have not had to get one yet but other members have used the rear kits. some have said it was not that hard to install. I would say if you are comfortable taking the door panel off and you can work with hand tools you can do it. $90 per window is way less then the stealer. |

Wouldnt mind just ordering those replacements for the front two windows just to save the aggravation of them failing later. My luck a back window would fail the day after I replace the fronts though. Glad he got the front two now though. That should save people a lot of money. |

Agreed with the Steiger route... you will save even more if your windows are tinted... with the "new" fix through the factory, you are looking at $600 plus having to retint... I did both rear windows for $150 through steiger. |

my windows are tinted. Stock privacy glass on rear and I had the fronts tinted a shade lighter than the back. I like it cus it blocks some of the glare. So I will have to do the Steiger fix if I have window issues. I am glad its there as an option. |

Just thought of something, colts: You may have the "newer style" regulators even with an older build date, if you have recently had them replaced. I asked this same question here 6 months or so ago when my left rear failed, because my right rear was replaced under warranty. So my left rear is the "old" style, and my right rear is the "new" style, in case I ever have to replace that one. If you decide to go the Steiger route, I would suggest printing the downloadable copy of his instructions and removing the door panel prior to ordering. Get a good eyeballs-on look at where the glass mounts into the carrier - as that is what is different between the two styles, the older has one ball stud and the newer has two - and compare to the pictures on the website and on the directions before ordering a kit. Trust me, with the directions he provides, you can't mess it up bad enough to justify paying someone else to do it. |

linewarbr is right... the instructions are very easy. I used a dremel to knock the little stud off... took me about 30 minutes per side. Oh, and a box of bandaids! The metal on the door frame is sharp  .

Have you had TSB 23-014-08 performed??? According to the site, after that TSB is performed than you can use the Steiger Kit Quote: (Note: This kit will also repair a 2006 Liberty built after 2/25/2006 or a 2007 Liberty but only if the window in question has had Jeep TSB 23-014-08 performed. When this TSB is performed, the regulator and glass are swapped out for the original style units. For more information about this, please see the wizard link below.)
