anybody ever have a power steering leak?

Either from the pump or from the hoses at the point where they connect to the steering?

No leaks yet at 100k just a lot of noise. Whines a lot. And the rack thing.

Yes,replaced 1 pump,pressure line,now-40,000m later O-ring is leaking again,best I remember it is a square profile O-ring,don't recall dia.

It's pretty common for the high pressure hose to leak where the metal line crimps to the rubber line,not to hard to replace and about $100 from CarQuest(only place I've seen that stocks them).The o-rings that seals the hose ends are another issue if that o-ring is not replaced when ever the hose is removed or loosened,there round also but look square after it's been compressed for some time.Then there's the all so famous Chrysler PS rack leaks,all to common and expected in the minivans(done so many I can do them in less then 2 hours now including the alignment,5.2 hours by book time).

Oh and that TSB for the minivans does not apply to the KJ's since the KJ does not use a separate reservoir,plus I looked over my PS pump over pretty close and no filter or reducer on the resevoir return port.

@ over 105k about a year ago I started having power steering problems. First it was the pump, then the hose that was mentioned above. However, when it happened to me, it was back ordered because of such a demand for the high pressure hose, you couldn't get them anywhere. So they re-manufactured mine. Then shortly after the guys in the shop didn't tighten the o -ring clamps down tight enough and it leaked again. Then about two months later the power steering rack went. They had a hard time getting the new one in and then even the new one was bad. So they used the warranty on that one to replace another one for me. Then a couple months later more leaking, as it turns out, guess what, they didn't tighten stuff down enough again and it caused more leaking that in turn made them have to replace the serpentine belt (they got power steering fluid all over it). Which in turn ruined the tensioner pulley they damaged getting the old one off.

Long story short, I had a bad experience and no longer use those mechanics. However, I think I've had just about every type of power steering leak possible in the last year. I currently have 120k on my 03 Liberty.
Make sure whatever you replace it is tightened up to spec, there is a lot of pressure in that system.

All this sounds about right. One thing I forgot to mention is when it is cold out (Below or around freezing) the pump groans bad as it starts up. Then all is fine after the firs second or two. Should i just get a new pump and HP hose (while I'm at it a return hose too) and get it over with?
