I agree, maintain it well and skip the extra plans (from anyone). They are too expensive and on average I'm sure they make a killing, and that's assuming you can actually get them to pay out a benefit when the time comes. |

Take the $2400 - put it in the bank. if you need any repairs - pay for it out of the 2400 the odds are overwhelming that at the end of 3 years - you'll still have money in the bank. |

I CALL BS! They'll spend it on the Jeep anyway, but at least they'll get upgrades instead of insurance. |

Don't purchase it. The main reason is if you do ever have a catastrophic failure. The warranty company is going to look for any way to deny the claim. The first way will be requesting receipts for regular scheduled maintenance. More than likely you won't have it and if your in the habit of doing your own work. This won't be approved either because they will deny because your not a certified mechanic and in their eyes you could have been responsible or contributed to the the damage in some way shape or form. I would also be willing to bet that you have a $500 dollar deductible per visit, per instance. Who the hell would drop $500 in a warranty claim? I was proposed with the same scenario when I purchased mine about 4 weeks ago. Once I started to read the fine print, I realized it was a waste of money. Chances are your not going to have any issues with the major components. Motor, Tranny, Rear End, Transfer Case. One thing you will find out is the driveline in the KJ's are pretty robust and unless your beating the crap out of it and not maintaining it. There shouldn't be an issue. They use this driveline in the Grand Cherokee, Dakota, Ram 1500 and the Liberty's. If you do a search for 3.7L Engine failures, You don't see too many occurences. Unless you run it without any oil in the case. |

I'm not sure how your dealer will be, but it has been a waste of money for me. I have a $250 deductible (which was supposed to be $100, but that is a long story) and last time I went I was told what I wanted fixed wasn't covered by my warranty because my vehicle has been "off-road". So if you take your vehicle "off-road" there is a good chance they will use that as an excuse to not cover anything. I had a helluva time trying to get them to replace a window regulator because of my KJ's "off-road" use. So, in conclusion, waste of money; they will look for any excuse to not cover any warranty work. At least that has been my experience. |
