I might use the rear swing gate more often than most, but I am having a problem with the window lock. When the car is unlocked and you pull on the rear swing door handle, before the door swings, the window lock should deactivate allowing the window to flip up, then the handle will open the gate itself.

That unlocking of the window is not happening for me. A couple of times that I tried, the window is just being forcibly poped out of lock by the swing of the gate. Then I can't close the window again because the lock is in the up position.

Fortunately, the window lock does work if I press the button on the key twice. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Are you hitting the unlock button twice (back to back) to unlock all doors and gate?

Have you taken the skin off the back and sprayed some silicone powder on the actuator? Is it sticking?

Yes, if I didn't do that I wouldn't be able to open the gate at all.

It is not sticking as it opens fine using the key button to open the glass. It's when I use the gate handle that it doesn't work.

Still sounds like the door mechanism. Take the skin off the back and punch the lock/unlock and try the handle, see if everything is working as it should.

Mine did this about 2 months ago. You will have to climb in/over the back seat. There is a small square cutout on the tailgate on the passenger side. Pop that open carefully...not delicate. Push through the black plastic...sound barrier perhaps? Now carefully, just to not cut yourself reach in and on the passenger side there is a piece about...1" maybe that needs to be flipped either up or down, depending. Once that is flipped you are good to go. For some reason mine did that twice in a week. After I flipped it the second time all was good. Not sure why it does it or did it. Super easy fix will take you maybe...10 min if you Richard around...20 min if you have a beer while doing :)
FYI, I used some body panel removal tools from Harbor Freight...cost maybe....$5.00 and I have used them 8 times already for various small projects, well worth the few bucks.

Thanks, Xodius. Mine did it again a few weeks ago, but it's working fine now. I'll try that next time it happens.
