Well you all know the Jeep came out with a couple packages for the wrangler models. The Islander and the Mountain editions. Well I am thinking about trading my Liberty for the Islander edition. So what do you think?

Is the KJ paid for? If so, I'd keep it and get what you want... I'm partial to the KJ though, I see way too many JK mall crawlers and very few modded KJs. Just makes having one a little more special... that was my :2cents: BTW.

Both of the new editions are looks only, not worth the extra $1,120.00 for the Islander or $1,800.00 for the Mountain. If you're into stickers, decals, side steps, fancy seats and a painted grill... go for it. Why not get a standard Sport and spend the money you'd spend on the overpriced decals etc. on wheels, tires and a lift??

A quick review....

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/12/detr ... out-the-r/

The last paragraph says it all....

"Jeep also showed us the Wrangler Mountain. Long story made real short, the Mountain is the Islander with different stickers, a painted grille and no heritage/nostalgic childhood memories. There's also an odd, flat-black hunk of plastic covering most of the hood that we're scratching our heads over. And... any questions? The cost of entry is $1,820. Oh, and the degrees on the Mountain's decal are 27° South, 88 66° West. We'll let you figure out where in the world that is. Have fun!"

It's you're money, do what you thinks best..... :SOMBRERO:

My jeep is almost paid off ($1500 left). I already have two cars , classic 1970 mini cooper and the jeep. military will only pay to ship one car. It is just a hassle to be paying for new tires every year, can't keep the tires aligned right. Might be that it has been in two car accidents, not my fault. Don't want to spend $$$$ for an axle swap. There aren't many parts for them, like the wranglers. Want a manual. It has over 110,600 miles on it. Have to drive back to Seattle next Febuary when I get out of the military. Just don't want to have to not worry about something going wrong with a vehicle between now and then. I have impressed a lot of other people with what my jeep can do, just want to do more. I wheel it when I can. Don't get me wrong I love my jeep. I get complements for it. Thought I was going to keep this jeep forever, but want to try something new.

Keep the KJ and buy the JK. I have my XJ and KJ on liability Insurance to help reduce the cost of owning multiple vehicles. I’ll put my truck on liability once I pay it off. We have three vehicles, but I’m about to buy a fourth next year.

I would totally trade for a JK if I wasn't about $4000 upside down on my loan.

Anybody else notice the KJ's resale plummeting like a rock over the last six months? KBB says my KJ is only worth $3100! :(

Dont waste your money. Just buy a used Rubi or a basic Wrangler X (sport). The new packages are a waste of money just for trim. :JEEPIN:

If you really want the package, then the price is worth it. Warren Buffett’s philosophy is: "If you don't feel comfortable owning something for 10 years, then don't own it for 10 minutes."

I like that quote! he is a smart man and a very wealthy man. There is something to be said for being happy with the things you pay for. it often cost you more to unload them and buy what you really want so why not get it the first time around.

I stopped and looked at an Islander the other day
to say I was unimpressed and very disappointed is an understatement.
What a rip off
If you want new ( or newer) and want something unique
buy a Sport and then 50 bucks at the decal guy and make your own decals and name it what you want.
I still have people saying that they never knew that there was a Kilimanjaro Edition
I think I may have to copy and do the degrees for Kili on the hood now just to mess with people even more :-)r

yeah...go with the sport 6spd and you will save some money. I just picked one up yesterday minivan tires and all. wanted to swap the mud terrains from the liberty but the bolt pattern is different

Well I won't be trading the lib in. I am thinking I will sell it. I might be able to sell the bumper and the cut flares to you if I can get your stock bumper and flares.

Depending on the timing, we may be able to work that out.
