Post subject:  Questions about Making Spacers

I want to make a 1" spacer.

so, I can use one piece of material 1" thick or two pieces 1/2" thick.

my questions are:

What type of material can I use?

and

where can I buy it?

Why not make it easy and switch to OME HD's?

Fair enough................

My recommendation would be to save up for the OME rear coils. It might take some time, but it will be worth it in the end.

I have other things I need first.

A-Arms

Spark Plugs (not really that expensive, but still)

PCV (same)

Radiator

New Rims/wheel spacers

Tires

new swaybar bushings

Oil change

Tensioner pulley

just to name a few.

and all are wayyyy more important/imminently necessary.

Try polyurethane sheet available in varying thicknesses.

lots to choose from on ebay. one issue is coming up w/ the tools to work it into the final form you want.

Or HDPE. (High Density Poly Ethylene). a.k.a. Cutting board material. They sell it in varying thicknesses at Lowe's and Home Depot. THen you can just cut donuts with a jigsaw or rotozip.

how expensive is it? (ballpark)

Cutting board material?

in that case, couldn't I just buy two cheap walmart cutting boards, cut them (haha), and stack them together? (if they are 1/2" thick)

IIRC it was about $20 for a 12"x24"x1" piece.

And don't laugh about the cutting boards. Just ask tommudd. He has actually used them.

Awesome.

I can get a sheet of HDPE 1/2"x26"x48" for pretty cheap.

Anyone else want HDPE spacers/isolators?

Here is a sketch of an upper isolator I haven't installed yet. The flowery looking part is a series of ribs I assume is a cushion area, and these do nest with each other about perfectly. Hope this helps. The diameters weren't the easiest to measure, all probably within 1/16 or 1/8.

If you're just making a donut, make the OD 7" and the ID 3-1/2"
