Hey there, I have an 06 Liberty and the AC decided to quit. I am trying to NOT take it to the stealer. Does anyone know where I can get some guidance on troubleshooting? I know that the light turns on when the switch is pressed but the compressor does not kick in. I bypassed the LP switch and the compressor kicked on. Not sure if it was working or not but it did engage. Is the Liberty plagued with AC problems like the window regulators? Thanks for any info. |

Well after 4 years it's about time for some A/C issues, happens on all vehicles with A/C at some point. You have a leak somewhere and most of the R134A has leaked out and why the compressor won't kick on.Time to take it to a quality repair shop that does A/C work for a dye test to find the leak. I'll tell you right now it won't be cheap, could range from $100-$1200+ depending on what is leaking. |

Our local small-town Auto A/C mechanic stocks compressors for the non-diesel Liberty, if that means anything! Unfortunately for me, the diesel is slightly different and I think mine is about to die. It sounds like you know enough to play a little bit, put a guage on the low-pressure side and by-pass the switch again. If it sucks a vaccum, you either have a leak or stopped up expansion tube. If it works, replace the LP switch. Other than that, take it to an AC specialist, there is nothing special about it that you need a dealer for. It just another Chrysler as far as the AC is concerned.. |

Thanks for the tips guys. The thing about it that angers me is, it only has 30k miles and I have had to replace 3 window regulators and a battery in the 2 years I have owned it. |

I've got a 2006 Sport also and my AC quit blowing cold after 30000 miles as well. Performed a leak test at dealer and all was good. Recharged the system, still no AC. At second dealer was told the clutch was bad, replaced compressor under warranty. Recharged again and all last summer, still blows warm air. Brought it back again and told it was fine after another leak test performed. So now with the warm season upon us, looks like I need to bring it back to stealership AGAIN! So, I'm going to say that AC is definitely a problem. |
