So I was chatting with my friendly local Jeep dealer and I was informed that to keep my warranty valid I need to have my 4x4 service done in the next 2k miles. So the list of course is *Power Steering Flush and Fill *Brake Fluid Flush and Fill *Differential Fluid Flush and Fill (Front and Rear, and both are open) *Transmission Flush and Fill (I need to do filter too cause I'm swapping to Amsoil Synthetic) *Transfer Case (same as transmission) After figuring out the cost of the fluids (thanks to John) the dealer wanted about 500 bucks....and that's if I brought the fluids I've never flushed the power steering but I think I can figure that one out, brake lines ok.... and I can probably do the differentials myself. However the transmission and transfer case scare the living underworld out of me. So I'm not entirely sure if I can handle that. Here's the other kicker, since I have to flush out the front differential anyway I'm considering upgrading it a little. The Yukon lockers (i belive) are the ones that disengage when power isn't being sent to the drive shaft, so if I stick one in the front it shouldn't effect my daily driving any way right? And the other question here is can I do it? My mechanical skills are only average at best but I'm poor, and as I'm sure many of you will understand I would prefer to learn to do it myself. So guys if there's any write-ups I don't know about, tips or tricks, or if someone wants to tell me to just pay the mechanic I need some advice here. |

will the yukons fit in the front? I have a DTT up front with no complaints 300 bucks of that was probably the tranny service and the 2x diff service, they charge like 70 bucks per diff at the stealership |

Amsoil will void any warranty as it is not approved for your trans, just to let you know.Just use a approved ATF+4(which is also synthetic) and you will be set for another 30k change interval like stated and you will save money and any headaches if a warranty issue arises. Oh and if you have never installed a airlocker(which the Yukons are, based off the 1st gen ARB's) they are not the locker to learn how to install, lots to get messed up. |

This is an aftermarket warranty (one that I kind of regret buying....even though it paid to fix a bad head gasket and replaced the BCM) and I asked the guy specifically if using another fluid like Amsoil would void it and he said no. On the other hand I was under the impression that amsoil fluids are superior enough to validate their cost...? As far as the locker maybe yea it's a pipe dream and I'm not even sure if the yukon was the one I was thinking of. And I'm sorry but I can't find the info I had, I'm certainly open to suggestions but I don't know if I like the idea of a daily driver that's locked full time. |

Get it in writing from the guy. Don't go by word of mouth unless you had it videotaped. |

You know the ideas are piling up here and the "do it right the first time" just seems to come to play. I'm thinking now about the DTT in the front, then of course I start thinking well i might as well go to 4.10's while I'm at it and throw a full locker in the rear. The $$$ just start adding up and I'm getting off track in my own discussion. And so I have an idea at least what I'm talking about the DTT for the Liberty is the D30 27spline right I found this HERE lemme know if I got it right. Honestly I'm not as worried about the warranty it's only good for a few thousand more and most anything that goes wrong from this point they'll probably blame on the lift anyway. |

if you do get a DTT or yukon or w/e , you MAY as well regear while youre at it, i think that notion is dead on |

Taking a cue from the illustrious reverend mudd, it might be cheaper for you to find the 4.10 axles from a 4 cyl gasser, install the lockers in them, then swap the axles. |

Just for clarification. Yukon Gears is the company that makes three (currently) different lockers. The Zip Locker (based off the ARB like TJKJ said, the Grizzly which is their version of a Detroit Soft Locker, and the Spartan Locker, a lunchbox style similar to the Aussie. In your OP you refered to a locker that unlocks whe there is no power sent to the axle, that would be either a Spartan, or a Grizzly Locker. The Spartan Can't fit in the D30A, and they don't make one for the 8.25. The Grizzly isn't made for the 30 or the 8.25. The Zip Locker is the only Yukon choice for the front (none for the rear). |
