Did some searching and really couldn't find any info on my style of dipstick. Its got 4 holes on it between the first two is the cold area then between the last two is the hot area. I am just making some educated quesses as to how to read the thing (hole)COLD(hole)nowriting(hole)HOT(hole) I dont know if this is the factory dipstick or if its a replacement, but trying to see if my fluid is alright or if its low..... |

Below about 100 degree fluid temp would be cold,so when you 1st start it up the level should be between the cold fill.At about 160+ degrees the level should be between the hot fill.ATF expands when hot.Check several times as pulling the dipstick once is not a accurate way to check the trans level,I usually check it 10-20 times before I'm satisfied. It is better to be a little underfilled in a auto then overfilled, not talking about a quart but maybe a pint low is better then being a pint overfilled. |

Yeah thats how I am. And then I am still not satisfied. I just wondered about my dipstick cause the impression I am getting is that it is not factory. I can to this conclusion by way of the manual and from others descriptions from past posts. I am probably gonna service it anyways about that time and it might as well be now. |
