I'm not sure if you run covers on your factory light bar (as there have been many debates about it) but I just tried to replace two of mine that are broken and found that Jeep no longer makes them. They now sell a kit with four covers PLUS the front and rear housing for the light bar. Point of story, the covers that were less than $13 are now in a kit for $180. |

Good idea would be to start hittin up local dlrs for old stock. Grab em and hold on to em for yourself or other members! Anyone got the old part #? It MIGHT be 5HZ07RXFAB (from pg 12 of the 2002 Parts Identifier). |

I have looked into this myself for future "What ifs"....the lightbar is made by "Hella" and apparently they make the same style of light bar for a few different vehicles....however with the same light. My advice would be to call Hella directly and inquire...DC in this case is just the middle man. |

Just got this response from Hella: (I also asked about brighter bulbs in the lightbar) Quote: Chris,
Are you looking for the Hella covers with the Mopar at the bottom? The ones with Mopar would have to be replaced at the dealer, and if it is a regular Hella cover I can show you places that will sell it, however we will not sell to the public. Next, you do not want to raise the output, because these lights where designed to handle a certain amount of heat, and by replacing bulbs with higher wattage for example, you could damage the reflector, lens, and your harness. What you do with your lights is your decision, but do so at your own risk. Chris Chris Charaf Consumer Support Rep chris.charaf@hinc.hella.com www.hellausa.com Hella, Inc. 201 Kelly Drive P.O. Don't you love it when someone says "We don't sell this item to the public". I find that really arrogant and self servicing. Well in the end they are just losing out on money....those parts could be very lucrative to the 4X4 world. Well sorry my Hella thought didn't work out |

There are many reasons why a company might not want (or be able to) sell to the public. Take my company for instance, if you called us up and wanting to buy a CPU, we would have to refer you to some other places that have the CPU in a form that you can readily use. The amount of paperwork, legal agreements and licensing work is incredible. On the other hand, if you're willing to fork up the money, sure |

ona slightly-related topic of "how-to-prevent-losing-lightbar-light-covers", I saw awhile back that somebody was making stick-on tethers for the covers so that if they fell off, they would stay attached by the tether (like a gas cap). They were overpriced for what they were, but if the replacement caps are $180 for the set, I guess $16 for a tether to prevent that isn't bad. (NOTE: I don't have these, or even a lightbar, so I have no idea if they are any good)

I took mine off when I first got my Libby. If I would have been able to see this one coming I would have bought a couple extra. |

Cacher123: Yea I called them and much to my surprise I got a call back in a few short minuets, but they said the same thing to me...in fact I think we talked to the same person. He also said that it was a copy right thing since it has the Mopar emblem. Se7enLC: It's not that I lose mine I use mine and the little tab that holds the covers on breaks. once it breaks it wont stay in place, and the only reason I use mine is I've seen a ticket (a friend not me) that was 100 per light not covered. I've been stoped and not ticketed for the lights but why give them that chance. WV(0)IIIIIII(0) I agree if I had seen it coming. I've ordered two in the past to replace other broken ones but now I need two more. darn hind sight. |

Has anyone called the dealer, and asked them for the above part number? |

I am sorry but why do you need them? Is it against some kind of traffic regulations to have them off or you just want to have the covers on? I live in NJ and all of the beloved cops here are very friendly |

I had a friend get a ticket for not having them on, it was $100 per light over 55 watts not covered. after speeding and the lights the ticket was almost $600. I'd rather not give the cop the option. It was 3pm so it was not like he had them on blinging the driver in front of him. I'm not sure what the law is in every state I would just perfer to cover my....lights. |
