We tow a Kamparoo behind our KJ and love it. We did 5000+ miles with it this summer and I have no complaints at all. It goes everywhere you want to take the KJ and is so light even with the 265/75's the KJ doesnt mind it.

I have a fleetwood bayside (pop-up). Weighs 3500lbs., and I take it 400-500 miles at a time, when camping. My only 2 complaints: With the 245/70s, I have slightly less towing ability, and only get about 11 mpg while the camper is connected. Before I upgraded to the 245/70s, I got 14-15 mpg with my stock 235s, but I generally get about 3mpg less with the bigger tires, anyway. I figure it's just the price of having a bigger footprint. If you're going into the mountains with a bigger pop-up, like mine, you may want to take it ouf of overdrive. Trust me, if you're pulling a lot of weight, it won't make a difference in mileage, but you're engine and tranny will thank you. As for stopping, when I've got the trailer brakes adjusted well, I don't really notice the camper much.

Also, before I got the bayside, I had a 12foot jayco without a slide-in. With that camper, I didn't even notice it behind the jeep. I think I could have dragged it with blown tires and not noticed. The jayco weighed about 1500 lbs. less, so that made a difference.

Just picked up a Coleman pop-up haven't towed it with the KJ yet but its only 1500 Lbs yet still over 10' long inside closed and about 22' when open.
It was free so it needs a decent amount of work, but will let you know how it is towing it with the KJ.

Just bought a KJ Tent from ebay yesterday for 100 bucks. Brand new never opened! It was one of the best purchases i've ever bought. Looks awesome on the back of the KJ while being easy to haul and travel. Plus you can drive away from it. I keep it in the jeep at all times just for the "in case" situations.

So much for an answer to Neal's question.

I just throw an air matress in the back of the KJ and the wife and I sleep there. Pretty comfortable for me at 5'10".

Does the angle from the seats not laying down flat bother you, or does the 06 lay flatter?
May have to try it with air mattress and see, that sound like the easiest/cheapest way and put the extra stuff up on the roof at nite to make room.
Do you have to sleep diagonal? I think walmart has an air mattress that fits the size.

It is a slight angle, but isn't bad unless you park on an incline with the front of the jeep higher. On level ground both my wife and I can put our sleeping bags in and sleep pretty comfortably. Now if you're taller then me you might have a snugger fit, but I can say with that for me its a cozy place to sleep when camping. I got a blow up double mattress made by coleman for $20 a few years ago just for this and I keep it with me always. When I get to a computer ill try and find pics of my last trip and how it looks.

Worst case scenario you have a nice air mattress if its not for you. :)

I'm about 5'-10" too, found the coleman at walmart for 23$. Probably the one you're using. Think I will build a couple of "boxes" to raise the back and cover with plywood. That will level it out and give me storage under where we sleep and the stuff that won't fit can put above at nite.
Have enough scrap wood around to make everything already, looks like about a six inch slope on the 05 we have.
Like the idea to be able to stop wherever we want to and not have to do the tent or popup hassle.
If you can, please post pics.
Thx.

Can't seem to find the actual pics, but here is a thread with some of the pictures of how I setup the bed.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=56758

Really all I do is move the front seats all the way forward and unreclined as forward as they can go. Then put the back seats down and lay out the bed and start blowing it up. Really easy and cozy for the wife and I.
