I think I know what you're talking about. Its common. I'd describe it as a fast ratcheting. Lasts about a second, right after the shift. |

All Chrysler Automatic transmissions are controlled with an electronic solenoid. When you change gears, this activates the solenoid and it makes that strange sound. Completely normal until you don't hear the noise anymore.... Then you know your transmission is messed up. |

Ditto on that question myself . . . thats the same answer I got from the Jeep Dealership a year or so back . . . except he used smaller words, I guess to help himself remember the answer . . . |

Mine only makes a buzzing noise if I accidently shift into reverse instead of 6th (which happens a lot more often then you'd think, I hate having reverse right next to 6th) |

se7enlc-I let my step mom and step sister borrow my pickup for a move when they were living with me-the mom was driving because she said she could drive a clutch...she was down shifting from 5th to 4th and hit reverse. When it didn't go in gear she tried forcing it...I sent her the $700 bill to replace the bearings and the reverse gear. My transmission guy (family friend) said he had never seen anyone do that kind of damage before... |
