Post subject:  Speed/Throttle Control

New to the forum, and converted Ford driver. Just bought brand new 2010 Liberty Limited. Since its brand new I question every noise and everything the Jeep does. Hopefully all of you seasoned Jeep owners will help put my mind at ease.

I have noticed when driving down an incline at any speed, if I take take my foot of the gas, instead of coasting, there is a noticeable feeling that the brake is being applied. Its almost as if the computer is trying to maintain the speed I took my foot off at. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it part of the speed control? Or the EBS system? It's not bothersome; I'm just not used to it.

On a side note, I didn't have much time for a break in period; I started driving on the highway almost immediately. I've read everything from take it easy for the first 500 miles, keep it under 50mph, to "break it in the same way you normally drive” Any thoughts? I have this constant feeling that I have already shortened the lifespan and haven’t had it more than a week.

Thanks for any input. I have the Jeep fever; I'm off to Summit Racing for some accessories.

i have an o6 liberty and when i traded in my truck for it i noticed the same thing, i found that barely touching the gas pedal allowed the vehicle to "coast" it seems to think you want to slow down when letting off the gas. not sure about the break in period so i offer no advice on that subject.

My 02 does the same thing.
I figured it to just be engine braking.
