Has anyone ever done it? Instead of trying to add the mechanical fan Ive been thinking about adding another electric fan that I can control with a switch. I would want it to go over the tranny cooler so I would need to figure something out with that. Just curious if anyone had already done something like this and could point me towards the right fan. |

You can order trans coolers from Summit that come with fans; there are several options. |

Yeah Ive seen those and they are pretty cool. I wasnt just wanting to cool the tranny but also cool the engine. So I was wanting the fan to cover pretty much everything. The stock tranny cooler has been fine for me. |

I looked at adding a extra pusher fan. There is not a lot of room for one. I think a 7inch is the biggest one that would fit. In the end I decided to just go with the HD cooling kit. That added a mechanical fan. Then I had a 2002 radiator so I put the external trans cooler that the 04 has in line with the one in the 02 radiator. Put it through the most extreme conditions you could think of (climbing to over 13,000 feet in 4 low). Some of the CRD's got a little warm on that climb. Then the next week we did trails in Moab in high 90 temps with the AC on and did not over heat. It surprised me that it worked so well. |
