Post subject:  parking lights switched power wire

I am trying to get my aux driving lights tied into the parking lights so I can turn them on only when the parking lights are one. What color is that wire, anyone know. I would rather not run the switch to a constant. thx

Run a relay into the power for the parking lights and then use side of the relay for the battery and parking lights.

IIRC, it's a green wire with either an orange or brown tracer. I seem to remember brown, but in google searching it comes up orange. Just pull your drivers side parking light off and you'll be able to tell. If I'm completely wrong on both colors, just use a probe and switch the lights off and on.

First off, the green wire with the orange tracer at the multifunction switch(aka turn signal stalk) is a multiplexed wire. When the wire shows 1000ohms of resistance to ground, the BCM will activate the parking lights. When the wire shows 349ohms resistance to ground, the headlights will come on.

I wouldn't use that wire. My suggestion is to simply wire a relay off the positive side of one of the parking lamps itself.

86 - Postive side of the factory parking lights
85 - Ground
30 - Constant power input(fused at battery)
80 - Power out to aux driving lights
87a - Unused

That's the one I'm using and haven't had any issues in the years I've been using my aux lights.
