First....great site glad i stubbled across it, lots of info for me to browse over. I hope this is the right place to post my question ?? i have been pokin around a bit and havent found an answer to my question, its probably here but i dont see it, anyway.... i have a 2006 jeep liberty renegade and wanted to know if there is a roof rack, cross bar or something that i can mount for it ? it has oversized rail tubes on it and its lookin like i cant put anything up there. I ski and snowboard so i wanted to mount them up on the roof. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks guys |

There are various types of cross bars, you can make your own as well for about 15 dollars There are also roof racks of various design No idea if you run into any particulars with the renny rails for the roof or not so I'm sure someone with a set who's done something other than hang on to them while waxing the roof will chirp in As I understand it, you snow board and ski so you want something that will work with snow board attachments is that generally the limit of what you think you'd put up there or would you expect to find it handy dandy to put other items, camping equipment etc up there as well If it's just snow/ski's etc, get cross bars that will work with the snowboard / ski carriers, if you think it would more than likely include other uses, certainly go with a basket, be it thule, boiler's, blackwidow or whoevers, should be simple enough to adapt a basket for use with ski / board carriers |

Welcome! What I would do is get the 05-07 Limited rails (they're about the same finish as the Rene ones), as they are the same size as the more common ones, plus they can hold more weight (50lbs with Rene ones, vs 150 Lbs with the others). Hope that cleared it up some! |

Thule makes cross bar attachments that work on the thick 05 to 06 Renegade roof rails.... I know because I have a set I use to carry surfboards.... also with Thule, they sell snow board and ski racks that attach right to their cross bars..... |

thanks for the replys.....thule make a nice product but the problem is that they dont make anything that attaches to the existing rail on my vehicle, its attaches to the roof. Am having a hard time tryin to find something that attaches to those renegade oversized rails. I cant even find anything made by Mopar that fits my vehicle....and the problem i allso have is location, here in southern canada the options for doing just about anything you want to do are very limited, NO SELLECTION. Iam close to the States and dont have a problem travelling there but i dont know where to go to look for accessories. |

I made mine out of 2 pieces of 1 1/2" square tubing about 48" long and 4 3" exhaust clamps without using the cross piece and was able to carry anything i've thrown at them including 6 sheets of 3/4" osb and 27 2x4's |

Yes they do, like I said, I have a set of Thule cross bars with the Thule hardware that attaches right to the thick Renegade roof rails, it does not attach to the roof. Could be they're just not available where you live, look online and I bet you find exactly what you need...... |

They'll fit the gray bars as well, I just placed them as far apart as I could since I carry a 10' surfboard up there... There's a heavy duty rubber strap that wraps around the roof rail, it tightens with a tension device using an allen key located in the end cap of the fitting..... |

does anyone know if this rack will fit my 2006 renegade ?? its a mopar one and there site says it will fit 2006 liberty but no mention of renegade. its on a website for sale and the owner is not sure .... plus he doesnt speek very good english so.... hes advertised it as " jeep liberty roof rack sport utility 02-07 " <<< same as what mopar call it on there website. Thanks. p.s thought i knew how to post a pic.......i was wrong , see if i can figure it out
