Post subject:  Free Oil Change???

My wife took our 06 Liberty down for its first oil change on Saturday and they did not charge her anything for it. The service guy told her that he noticed we had some sort of care package or something that included free oil changes. Has anyone ever heard of this or no how long it lasts? I know we did not pay for anything extra. To make sure I went over our service contract and invoice and found no extra charges. Thanks.

Shhhhhh! Don't raise a stink until the day they do charge you.

I have the lifetime oil change. I did my math, how much my time was worth, and how much of a headache it is to change the oil (with skids) and went with the lifetime oil changes. It gives me a chance to show off my KJ to the Jeep people also.

At 3,000 mile per oil change and at an average of ~$40/change, it will pay off in no time (6 oil changes so far x ~$40 a change, it will be paid for itself very soon).

Yeah.. I got that same deal... But I also opted for the full service package also.. All my service stuff from fluids to wear items are covered for 80,000 miles or so...

Nice deal. Some people like syn but if its being changed every 3k theres no need. I use syn and go every 3k but i go up to 6months between changes. I got it Jan of 2004 and its only got 18k on it. Low miles! Has to do me through college and until i get a good job. Needs to last at least 7 years, shell treat me good im sure!

really I don't find it hard to change the oil with stock skids

The hardest part is getting the filter off, and a filter socket with a swivel extension makes it pretty easy.

For a minute there, I thought you were just driving very little just in general, but since you are in college, that makes since with the cost of gas. I got mine in Sept `04 and I think I just went over 18K miles and that includes a trip to Moab and a trip to Ohio and back (2,400 miles).

Enjoy the free oil changes. Look at everything in your plastic/canvas Jeep manual case for anything that might say you did buy oil changes. Could be a part of an extended warranty.

I had a similar plan with mine. It was in a seperate envelope labeled "Service Contracts". It was a blue Mopar cover and back page ( part # 81-770-4872) but the guts were obviously dlr printed/dlr specific. From reading the fine print it looks like there was a charge for this built into the purchase price. The plan provided for 4 free oil changes in 2 years. Dlr wasn't sure which plan I had when I went in for the first one (I forgot the coupon) so I ended up getting free changes every 3k. I was told that ended when my original warranty expired so I suspect the same will happen with yours. ( I figure I ended up with about 20 free oil changes in 60k so I guess I made out)

Edit: I just found my very 1st service/oil change invoice. Under labor description it says: "Free lifetime offer of replacement oil and oil filter every 7500 miles." I guess I'm good for every 3rd or so oil change if I can get them to honor it and they don't say the service writer made a mistake!

I just received my oil change coupons last night, looks like I have 5 free oil changes. I verified on my invoice that i did not pay anything extra for these, and I got the jeep well below invoice. Thanks for all your quick responses. By the way if you are interested in picking up Sylvania Silverstar headlights, I posted a deal I found under here:

I got a lifetime oil change package as well but I was only able to use it twice. The stipulation was I had to have all my service work done by the dealership. Well my mechanic did some work for me and when I went in for my oil change the dealership noticed the parts difference (I assume it had to be Mopar or something) so it voided my warranty. I didnt really care anyway, the stealership was always trying to get me to do things I didnt need.

It's been a while, maybe I will try again. I doubt they remember me!

What kind of work? Are you talking about adding a lift, a nono-mopar skid plate, non-mopar wheels?
