I recently purchased a Detroit Truetrac for the front of our KJ. Got a real good deal at OffroadToyStore.com, it was $329.95 with FREE shipping!

Thanks for the info libby! I'm interested in one of these, does anyone have experience with a Detroit True-trac in the KJ that would like to say what they think about it?

A while back Darby Walters reported a shipped price from Reider Racing of $310.

Their prices may have changed by now, though.

I love my true-trac in the front. I walk up stuff I used to have trouble with. Makes it more fun to wheel when you don't have to struggle as much.

That $310 is no longer good. Called Reider just before I ordered it, they said $357 plus shipping.

Any correlation between traction difs like this one and failure of the front dif casing?

No correlation, stock set ups blow housings also.

What causes the diff to blow is the amount of torque put on the housing. Like when bouncing or you get in a really tight bind.

Does anyone have the Truetrac up front with a Powertrax in the rear? How is the winter driving with this combination?

If i bought this how much would it be to have installed? I know its a lot more work that the powertrax.

There are good posts in the Tech Articles Section on How to do it yourself.
Having a shop do it could get pricey!... I've done my own twice now. Just take your time and follow the directions. I'm no mechanic either!
