| Post subject: | Suspension Question |
It's been a while since I've been on here regularly & unfortunately with all that's been happening lately, the KJ has been severely neglected. I'm now in the process of making it up & have just recently replaced rotors, pads & bled the brakes. My next MUST DO task is to replace the suspension. I've decided to go with Rancho RS9000X all the way around (mostly because I can get them buy 3 get one free @ Checker with the rebate). My question to everyone is if I should look into replacing the springs as well. I have about 174k on the Jeep & when I say neglected... Everything suspension wise on the Jeep is stock neglected. I'm finally in a position where I can spend a modest chunk of change on the KJ aside from fluids, tires & brake pads. I'm still not trying to spend too much & just looking to do what is a MUST right now & a WANT in a few months. If there is anything else anybody thinks I should be looking at, let me know. Thanks guys! |

Whether you're going to lift or not, at 174k, you'll want to replace the springs. I just did at 135k and WOW, what a difference. The stock springs had sagged a LOT! |

As posted in another thread, my jeep had a crapload of body roll when I got it and the new OME's really improved stability in the curves. |

I pulled a .93g skid pad with my OME suspension and MT/Rs. |

Go for some medium duty OME springs with new Bilstein shocks, only lift you a couple of inches, hardly noticeable but a HUGE improvement in handling and ride |

Ok, I've been looking at the OME springs & find some at 1.5 & 2 inches & the only Bilstein shocks I can see are 2.5 inches... Don't mean to sound stupid, but am I going to have an issue if i went with the 2 inch springs & the 2.5 inch shocks? It doesn't seem like a half inch would kill anything |

the front shocks will be stock length for your year KJ, the rear shocks is where the shock difference in length is, try cross referencing the shock and see if it applies to like a 03 dodge durango 4wd rear shock, pretty sure your answer is positive, just not used to the question being asked in that manner but there's nothing wrong with the question pretty sure we have the bilstein part numbers around here for you somewhere, one of the lift faq's probably has it, that's probably the best way to be sure you don't end up ordering and paying for the wrong thing post the Part numbers that you're looking at, one of us will recognize them i'm sure |
