I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited. My fan/heater control module will only work on fan speed #4. If I turn the fan to 1, 2 or 3 it will not turn on. I assume the contacts are worn or whatever. How do I fix this? Do I need the whole part? If so, what do I look for, or ask for? Is there a part number? Is it as simple as taking off the trim, unscrewing and popping the unit out, unplugging from the back and just installing a new/used one? The rest of the controls, heat/cold, rear window defrost, etc all work fine, it's just the fan speed knob. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks!

need a new blower motor resistor there's a actual upgraded part that's available at advance (auto zone doesn't carry the brand)

BWD RU1040 - Chrysler Sebring 2001-2004 2.4L gas

Advance and Orileys I know for a fact carry it

Resistor pack just as JeepinJarhead03 mentioned. Common failure, many of us have made the repair, some of us more than once. The resistor pack is located under the glove box, pretty easy to remove, replace, install, once you figure out the locking tab. There are write ups around with pictures for how to make the repair.

Hey guys thanks for your replies!! Here is my new issue.....I got the resistor, cheap from dealer on Ebay $25, compared to prices here in Canada. I pulled and unlocked the red tab and went to pull out the old resistor. When I went to pull the reisistor out of the hole, I bent it and the thin, wafter like end on it broke off and fell into the air duct. The hole is so small I couldn't fetch it. My question is, will leaving that broken piece inside the duct harm anything? I put all back together, put the negative cable back on the battery, and the blower now works on all levels. Any thoughts on the broken piece would be much appreciated!! Thanks.

Wow, we paid $24.68 taxes in from the dealer here in NS when we needed one back in 2006!! Sometimes it's best to just check with your local dealer when calling around for prices, they might surprise you!!! Then do the job yourself or get a trusted mechanic to do it (there are a few around that won't rip a person off).
