A gallon of washer fluid leaked all over a portion of my rear cloth seat. I washed it thoroughly and the stain is still there. I really want to swap over to leather upholstery. Anyone know where I can buy it ? BTW, I kick myself in the arse every-time I think of when I bought my Liberty. The Limited (w/leather seats) I was also considering was "only" $5,000 more or roughly $50/month. Shoulda bought it. |

I have the leather in my 2002 and well...I wish sometimes I got the cloth, lol. If you are a member at Costco you can get the Neoprene seat covers, front and back from coverking for only 300 which is about half price. It might be the...cheaper solution. |

M&P40 wrote: pull the leather out of a junkyard limited if you can find one in your area It took me 2 years of searching wrecked liberty's, locally, with the same color code (DLD2) before one came up in Damascus, OR. It has DLD2 color (grey), leather, heated, power seats in really good [but dirty] condition. I got them late last week and installed them this weekend. Here's my original cloth set: ![]() Here's the new set: ![]() ![]() This isn't my first rodeo. I've done this 4 times now on different vehicles, but only once before this had I done power/heated into a vehicle that never had that trim package to begin with. That went really well (F250 getting a transplant from a wrecked Excursion). And I blame that on making me underestimate this job. This is tough if you're considering it. It's not just ignition power and ground (unfortunately). And as far as I can tell there's no way you don't have a final stop at the dealership to recalibrate your passenger airbag ($105). Yeah, it's a safety error so an ODB2 won't simply clear it and it's an actually calibration process intended to represent a child sitting in that seat. Suuuck. OK, all that said, these seats are fricken sweet. Easy to clean leather, good adjustments (it's not a bmw, but not much is) and awesome heating - just in time for winter. The key is to find them locally, b/c I would have bought them first thing 2 years ago except the freight charges a lot of time were 50%-100% the cost of the complete seat package. Good luck. |

RE: Katzkin... i just called a good friend/customer of mine that has been a Katzkin retailer/installer for years. He says he has availability for 2002-2004 Liberty Sport & Limited, and 2005-2007 Liberty Limited, & Sport/Renegade His retail price would be $1349 installed for the basic 1 color leather, or approx $1500 for custom or 2-tone installs So it appears it is available, and available in almost any color combo you can imagine for around the $1500 range installed. i did NOT ask what retail on just the materials are, just went off his quick guide for pricing, which includes install. but my guess is around the $800-$1000 range for materials at retail. So check around with local Katzkin shops and see what is available. they should have a complete book of all colors/fabrics available. |

If you can find it hey, not cheap stuff i know that. why do you think i don't have any yet?? ha. for a brand new vehicle though, it's usually cheaper than factory options, i guess it's fitting for that situation. |

I solved that problem simply by swapping the occupancy sensor from the cloth seat to the leather seat. Airbag light works as it supposed to. Problem solved |

Problem solved I had a user PM me yesterday about doing this. I didn't try it, but he said he did with limited success, as in it only kept the AB error from coming back on for a few days. Either way, it's a clever tactic and doesn't cost you anything to try. |

Buy the Katzkin kit wholesale from a retailer who doesn't need to make money for $650 and find an installer who works for free to put it in. You're golden! Might as well add seat heaters while you got 'er torn apart. I have a 2 tone kit with custom embroidery, stitching, perforated inserts and heaters in my whip. ![]()

Or you could adopt my plan... 1. Cease and desist future upgrades to your Liberty CRD that will not result in a higher selling price. This includes... almost everything you can think of (admit it) 2. Take that money you would have blown and invest it in any number of products that will give you an average 8-12% return rate over the next 3 years. 3. OK, now it's 2014. Go buy a 2009 X5d. It has depreciated to a value you can afford. It has 2 turbos on an inline 6 providing 265 Hp and 425 Ft-Lbs [unmodified] for a 0-60 in the sub 7 range and guys hitting 160 MPH on the Autobahn (youtube). It has AWD. Handles like a BMW. The best gear box and brain to control it. Most importantly - these vehicles happen to come in leather. You will never see a forum thread like this one [how do I find leather seats for my car] for an X5 If you have reservations, please enjoy the following short and pointless video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O1T4WGxCNk (drool at the potential) Better yet, you don't even have to be a card carying member of the d-bag club to own a BMW. Although this crime still occurs every day. Especially in Beaverton, Oregon My wife owns an 2001 X5 and I'm forced to compare my CRD to her ancient gen-1 machine all the time. There is no comparison. The CRD wins in real offroad applications but... what % of the time do you really drive off road? Do the math. It's probably less than 1% if you also use your rig as a daily driver. This is officially my best tangent on LOST |

This is hilarious comparing a jeep and a BMW. Yeah the X5 interior is way nicer interior but i would still take the jeep and if not a jeep then a Land Rover. And there are quite alot of people on here who use thier jeeps as Daily drivers and off road almost every weekend. And dont you ever watch Top Gear they laughed at the X5's off road capability. |

(This is more of an experiment to see if a Jeep guy, on this forum will somehow consider a BMW) Quote: ...And dont you ever watch Top Gear? What self respecting man doesn't? |
