I really have to change out the front struts and springs. The KJ backbone and winch have pulled the front end down. I really wanted to get an OEM lift with HD springs but it's right now it's just not going to happen with current finances. Are the Monroe quick replacement struts assembles any good?? I have seen them online for about $120 a piece. They come with strut, spring, isolators, and top strut plate so I can save my old parts for the OEM lift one day. They also have some cheaper ones on ebay. Has anyone used the quick change struts? Do you guys thing the will last more than a few months under the weight of the backbone and winch? Thanks, Wes |

With a stock KJ and no extra weight they may be OK for a while, with the weight of the Backbone and winch I'm afraid you'll be back to where you are now in no time at all. |

You will sag fast with those, cheap coils used and not OEM rated specs either(lower then OEM so you buy another set faster). |

Ok, well what about using a set of springs off a CRD? I have checked over at the dealer and they told me the CRD spring were only $45 a piece. Would that add any spring rate to the front springs and get me by for a few more months? I'm hoping to eventually get a Frankenlift II and a pair of Al's A-arms. But until I have the $1400 to $1500 saved up I got to figure out something for the front. Right now I have less than 3/4's of an inch between the upper arms and the bumpstops. |

OEM CRD springs are rated at 410 lbs so yes they would give you enough to hold up the backbone and winch I would say since OME 927s are 400 lb, of course made for lift also but... so go for it. I'm actually getting some in to do the same thing to a LOST member here in town sometime soon gently used ones but all the same |

Thanks guys, I found a set of CRD springs/strut assembles used for $100. That will get me by for a few more months until I can afford the OEM stuff. I finally set down and faced the fact that I had to get the front lifted up and bit, alignment done, and a new set of stock size tire. I don't want to buy a set of stock size tire but the cost of doing a lift right is about $1000 more than I have and I need to drive the Jeep from Florida to Maine in Feb. Thanks for the help, Wes |

You do know that you can buy 4 OME springs and 4 Bilstein shocks for about 700 right? Thats less than the 1000 you keep mentioning. But take some before and after measurements to see what the CRD springs do for you |
