Im running into an interesting problem. I have an 06 Liberty and I am the second owner. It's still stock. The problem is that when you turn the AC on or the heat, the idle bounces between 900rpm and 350rpm somewhat at a fast pace and also stalls continuously after a period of time. There are no engine codes or even a misfire for that matter. It stops the irregular idle immediately after you turn the AC or the heat off. Ive been working on cars since i was 6 so I'm definitely not illiterate but the new electronics on these cars have me pulling my hair out. Was wondering if any of you guys have ran into this problem or know of the cause. By the way, your site is way for informative than jeep forum |

Sounds like it could be a dirty TB. Remove the TB from the manifold, clean the carbon out of all idle air passage, behind the blades, everywhere. Then clean it again. Total r&r time will be about 20 minutes. the gasket is reusable. |

Actually replacing the plugs as we speak. That back passenger side plug is a PAIN I'll check the TB also while I'm out there. Appreciate it guys.

plus and cleaning the tb are two good starting points if you know they're due bad battery can also cause a similar issue, however mine never really bounced from 350 it just knocked off.. if it still has the original battery it may be tryin to tell ya somethin |

Replaced the plugs and the battery is brand spanking new. Still doing the idle non sense though. I'll eventually track it down. With a name like Jeepinjarhead, were you in the Corps? |

Good deal on the battery then i guess? Has it been doing this since before the new battery? 19 times out of 20 when there's issues with the TPS or IAC it throws a code, however, pull the IAC and check the port in the TB for gunk, the IAC often gets some build up around the cone of the plunger which can cause some erraticness however, idling like that.. i'm surprised it's not throwing a code of some SORT if not a simple result of the momentary low idle when it drops make sure all your vac hoses near the Master cyl are on good and not burned/cracked - except.. usually if ya got a bad enough leak there to cause a weird idle.. it's gonna show a code other than the idle, does it drive ok and appear to have normal acceleration etc? and yes I was in the Corps, Ooh, and or, Rah |

Unplug the A/C compressor then turn the heat on and see if it still does it. Your A/C runs with the heat on b/c Chrysler is stupid. If it doesnt do it then, something may be up with the compressor. |
