| Post subject: | XM on RB1 |
I had upgraded my in dash to an RB1 Navigation unit with the rear 6 disc CD changer and the Sirius radio unit. I decided to "fire" Sirius after they lost Fox News. So I bought the Terk Chrysler XM Adapter (XMDCPK). This is a universal XM receiver with another small unit and cables to adapt to the head unit. It plugs into the head unit in the 8 pin connector. It has a Y cable which I then plugged into the cable that runs to the rear mux into which CD changer and Sirius radio are connected. The antenna is magnetic, (and small) so I just ran it out behind the upper brake light and mounted between the brake light and the Sirius antenna. (which was factory mounted) Everything works like a champ, and I see the XM info on the RB1 display just like I did for the Sirius radio. The best price I saw on this unit was from Amazon, $103.99 |

i've been thinking of taking the plunge with xm radio...the radio where i'm at right now is pretty bad and xm has more of what i'm looking for (nascar and mlb). I wasn't entirely sure how well the xm would work with rb1 and the 6 disc changer. boxhead, where did you mount the xm equipment? I also have the mopar sub, so it's already kind of cramped behind the radio/ac with cables. |

OK, here's the details now that I've had to to play with it - The left middle steering wheel button will not take you through the presets, you have to use the buttons on the unit. - The song/artist does not show up on the bottom of the RB1 screen. You have to use the tune button to scroll through them. (ie, you scroll through the channel name, artist, and song) I'm going to contact Terk about this. But, I got Fox News back, so I'll take the differences, even though I prefer the way things displayed before. Installation - When you pull the head unit, stick your hand inside the opening to the right. There's a flat plastic surface that works well for the converter. Use Velcro Extreme or 3M Dual Lock, and it should stay there. The wires will fit with some coercing. - For the receiver itself. When you remove the glove box, there's another flat plastic surface on the right, and the receiver will Velcro there as well. However, note that I had to break off the right latch on the glove box itself for it to close properly. Not everyone may want to do this, but I was running out of spaces, patience, and time. The wires will run from the converter to the receiver without interfering with the golve box. |

Thanks for the review...sounds like they have a few issues to work out. Still on my to do list, but maybe drops down a bit. Hopefully they'll take care of some of the user interaction details in the mean time. |
