I know our Libertys are made for daily driving with a weekend off road trip in there sometimes.....however the dragracer side of me comes out once in a while and I wonder stuff lol. Whats the fastest anyones ever seen a KJ do the 1/4mi in? Has anyone seen any crazy engine setups or turbos? I wanted to take mine when I got it just to see what the baseline was but never did. I traded in my Mustang for this so I used to go alot.

so far no one has "built" a KJ 3.7. No one has installed aftermarket high performance pistons or had a custom reground cam put in. Kenne bell used to make a super charger for it for about 6 months until they realized that the 3.7s piston rings could handle any extra power so they pulled it from the market. It could still be done wth wither turbo or super charger pretty easy but it would be pretty $$$$$ and since no one has done it you have no clue what road blocks you will come up agains in the future

Not true, there's at least one with headjobs, valves, bump stick and forged pounders, injectors. throttlebody and other necessaries, bottom line is although I can't quote who due to lack of knowing who else, i'm pretty sure there's got to be someone else - simple fact they just may not be on the site or any site for that matter

not sure what all KY and J did to theirs specifically, i'd say with 1/4's and closed track or autoban stuff those two would be in the lead KJ3.7 wise

All i ever did with mine speed test wise was take it down a military aircraft runway a few times, usually those looking for quarter speeds don't add 600 lbs and more to the vehicle during the performance addition builds

Coming back from Cali I hit around 112mph or so. Not the fastest I have gone in a Jeep but fastest in this one...wait...scratch that, I plead the 5th I did not admit to 112. ;)

all that really matters with a jeep is how much 'Oomph' it's got between idle and half of the usable RPM's

on the road it's just a matter of getting the pigs mooooovinnnng.... :P

The problem is the powertech engine series. They are great, but are near their peak from the factory. The only way to increase performance is to redo the whole motor and use forced induction and at that cost and performance gain would have you sitting at probably around the level of a 4.7l HO with intake and exhaust. If you want speed a KJ or KK is not for you.

Loaded with people and I ran a 17.1 goofing off. Top speed was 128.63 or 207kph when the engine hit the rev limiter of 4200rpm. I regularly drove it between 100-120mph when traffic would allow. Even in 4x4 durning a heavy rain storm. Stock except for 245x70x16 tires
