Could someone please help me out. I have been reading several differant stories that the ground clearance on a stock liberty 4x4 (03 and newer) is 6.5 inches, while others are saying it's close to 8 inches. Also wondring what is the lowest part? Thanks for any feedback.

6.5 bro-8 inches is a fairy tale. I don't have that and I got a lift. I got 9 inches up front but only 7 in the rear with full tire pressure.

The good news is the Superlift is a go and will be in the 4 inch range according to their rep who I talked to a week ago...Email the crap out of them and call them, the more they hear about it-the more likely our dream will come true. With 33's you ought to be able to get that magical 9 inches...

A couple of companies are coming out with SFA swaps that should be in the 7 inch range and will use full size pickup hardware on the axles... You will be able to fit 35's with Rock Krawler's kit if you are brave enough to try it. 35's should net you something in the 10 inch range.

6.5" that people quote is usually from the front skid plate to the ground. It is probably the lowest point on a stock liberty. With a lift and some tires, mine measure at about 10.5" Different number are just people meauring from different spots.

The low areas that will always hang down on just about any vehicle no matter what lift are the rear differential and the lower control arms in the front. But those areas can easily be avoided with a little driving skill most of the time. Personally, I think numbers are just numbers and can be a little silly at times because you are usually skewed to make a point.

Hope that helps.

8" is what Jeep claims. It is considered "running ground clearance" and is measured at your rocker panel. They arrive at this by assuming if you drive over an obstacle WITH YOUR TIRE then the obstacle will clear your rocker panels which are 8" high. While this is the best way to clear obstacles it is a little misleading in that the front diff is only 6.5" off the ground in stock form. A lift and tires usually result in 10-11" under the front skid.

Hope that helps.

I have the ome 2" lift and have around 8.5in under the front skid. I have 7.5-8 under the rear diff. I had 6.5 under the front skid before the lift. Still have stock tires, when i get bigger tires it will go up even more. Thats the only way to lift the rear diff is bigger tires.
