So I took my Liberty in to get the oil changed (yes, I took it in... I don't have a garage and I'm not going to attempt it in this weather), and the mechanic said that my front left axle seal was leaking really bad. This came as a shock to me, because I just bought it last month (used, with 52k miles on it). I've been parking it in a snowy parking lot, and I haven't seen any oil spots in the snow at all where I park. Was this guy leading me on? Is there any sure way to check this? I don't want to waste my time/money on repairing it if he was just blowing smoke at me.

I haven't fixed it yet, but I did top off the front diff.

Thanks guys... definitely a leak as there was oil coming from the CV onto the outside of the front differential.

clean it off real good and double check
he may have just spilled on from the filter down over it or something as well.
Could be the seal but just to make sure clean and check
