I want to have a set of rear facing lights that allow me to work on my trailer hookup without being in Reverse gear. Anyone hook something up that was independent of the light system or the reverse lights?

I left it in reverse once, set the brake and oops we were pushing down trees!!

There is a write up in the electrical section
several good ways to hook up lights independently

Also a sticky in the fab section, just do a search and you'll find plenty of write-ups :D

thank you. I searched on backup lights, I got alot of stuff, I'll check it out.

It's a pain to hook up or work back there without lights, I am also going to rig out a cam so I can see more easily.

there's a few wiring looms in the rear you can work with to snake wiring out, it's really no different than putting in aux lights in the front and using a switch on the dash and a relay, the wiring run is just a bit longer

if you have a roof rack it would be your best bet for location, or you could fab something to get them on stock rails or a homemade cross bar
