I have to say I have never seen this issue on XJ/ZJ/WJ setups. I usually set up a 6" lift with 4.5" spring and 1/5" spacer then shock for 5.5". This gave me full compression of the front coils and 1/2" of shock up travel left on the shock so they never bottom out. I ran this type of setup without extended bumpstops for 9 years and over 100,000 miles (including tough rock crawling trails, Moab, Johnson valley etc. without so much as a hit of sag. On a limited travel ring like th IFS up travel is just as important as droop

Im trying to see how on a KJ it would cause the coil to stay compressed where on another rig it does not. Maybe the dia of the spring wire?

Not quite sure what you are saying about it staying compressed ?
Stacking springs is never good but I've never seen a spring stay compressed unless it is totally worn out

I assume you are talking about the never-ending comments about OEM springs sagging. The OEM springs are poor quality from the factory. Maybe weak steel, maybe thin coils, I don't know. But they all sag. Replace them with OME and they won't sag.

IM talking about stacking this is the first forum Ive seen that term before. It is common practice to set up an XJ to stack the spring to get full up travel

Just a problem with the cheap OEM springs. Good quality springs hold up fine.

Glad to hear! Im coming from XJ's where 20+ inches of front travel to the KJ where if I can get 10" of full travel it would be good!

Another question what is in the 07 liberty Rubicon package? cant seem to find info

If the bottom of fender to center of hub up front measures anything over 19", it is lifted.

Thats funny I have heard that term or similar for over 25 years. Stacking can and will ruin coil springs, no matter the make

any time you hit metal to metal it can damage the spring
it's not time - it's impact.

Must be a Texas thing.........LOL. Ive been working on off road rigs fro 30 years and the term is new to me in AZ.

Started in single seater buggies and multiple coil overs............back in the days of 4 shocks at each rear corner.

When you mention stacking and coils out here it would be putting springs of different rates on top of each other on the same coil over.

I did another search and Jegs mentions stacking and using urethane inserts to stop it, maybe an old drag racing term. Either way IVe been doing it for many, many years with no ill effects on the coils.

I could see if you where racing the beast and jumping it you would wish to stop the springs from bottoming........eerrr stacking.

Well not a Texas thing since I'm a long ways from there.
or
Ask Marc at ARB about it, he can tell you about stacking as well and he's in Washington state
Oh and was talking to a spring / repair shop over in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and they knew about stacking of coil springs, imagine that even in East Africa  "shocking" isn't it

maybe you just never was with people in the know

Suspensions are designed and redesigned to do different things, I would never allow a race rig to bottom out springs.

Well I will continue to bottom out springs...........errrr STACK springs  and probably never have any issues.

Im glad I can help out for this new year. I try not to let things get boring. And will always tinker. After all a Jeep is never finished till the day you sell it.

Oh and Im in Washington state by default. IM an Arizona boy. Im allergic to mud, give me that clean dry rock! :SOMBRERO:

Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! and thanks for being here for this old guy to bounce ideas off of
