After 2012, say goodbye to the Jeep Liberty

From what I’ve read, the Jeep Liberty will be replaced in 2013. It looks like 2012 could be the change over year??????

Yeah, it’s being replaced by a Fiat platform with Chrysler styling; however, they said it wouldn‘t be “Jeep enough” to carry on the Liberty name.

Hey JL, this might make you happy, "A Fiat diesel is reportedly being tested by Siemens for US certification in the 2012 Wrangler."

I've read about the fiat platforms, and I'm worried jeep is going to begin leaving the off road crowd behind, unless you want a wrangler of course. I hope it doesn't happen, but I just don't think the fiat panda is very beefy. :ROTFL:
As much as I don't want to say it, jeep may lose a faithful customer/fan if they don't replace the liberty with something worthwhile.

Jeep will eventually fall in the usual car mfg. category of just making daily driving, grocery getting typical vehicles.
I mean, they have already started with the JKs making 4wd an option and not standard. But let them do what they want.
CJs, YJs, and TJ's are still very popular and there will always be aftermarket support for them. JKs are becoming more popular as well but may be the last of the wrangler line thats very capable off road in stock form. They change the wrangler line every 10 years so we will see when the next model comes out if Jeep is keeping atleast one vehicle offroad capable.

Jeep has always made 2 wheel drives, be it any of the models , they didn't just start recently.
Plus I think there is some who think a 4 wheel drive has to "look" a certain way to go off road and be able to make it through. Go to other countries and look and drive on their roads with what most people have. To get to the In Laws home ( the back way) I know a lot of Jeepers would be locking in, saying oh no I need better tires and lockers to go on this trail, when in fact people drive it every day in cars and trucks.

Just wait until they build something and see how capable it is before you bash what you haven't even seen and is speculation at best

Tired of people getting upset of their own speculations. Why worry about something that hasn't happened, and something that you really don't have a lot of input on.

Just my opinion. :JEEPIN: :2cents:

I'm just speculating. Looking at how the trend of the type of vehicle they are making is going more and more toward the typical grocery getter category. I mean look at the Liberty line. The KJ had a decent after market, the KK has nearly none.
Look from the CJ era to the current line up and you'll see what I mean. Yes, I hope jeep doesn't start making cars and leave out 4wd as a option and all that crap, but by the way its going it won't surprise me if it happens in a few years.
If they every stop making the wrangler then I lose faith in all humanity(well, what little bit I have left in it)

All I know is I drive a jeep that was made when jeep made actual JEEPS. Jeeps meant to be used and abused, do what they're told with little arguing, and MUCH MUCH easier to work on. Plus, I have a REAL motor in mine, not a mini van motor. :goink:

Jeeps have always had nearly the same lineup as now....so you're saying back in 76, the Wagoneer wasn't mall crawler oriented (like the GC now) with wood veneers on the side, and shag carpet on the inside. CJ7 Limiteds? Leather, auto tranny, body color hard top. Levi CJ's? Denium seats, but not mall crawler, right? Oh, and the DJ series Jeeps, those were all 2WD, but since they're from the "good" era, they're more off road capable than a Jeep made in the past 10 years....

Ohhh...and like the YJ Renegade wasn't mall crawler? Check out those plastic fenders, eh?

People may bash the new WK2 because it's less rugged? No, it's strong, and is more capable than the old one. I just don't like the dash board, it's still a Jeep though.

Sorry for the rant. :2cents:

If they make all Jeeps mall crawlers I'll be crossing to the H2/H3 side :grim:

I never said they didn't make 'luxury' models, now did I?
I said they made them more for real use and abuse.
Yes, the Grand Wagoneer was a what you would call 'luxury' model, but it could still take much more abuse off-road before breaking. Plus, more people actually USED them to haul stuff and farm work, etc etc. Now they all jut drive to the mall and take their kids to soccer practice.
The one's actually USE their jeeps as they should be used, well more power to them! That's what I like to see.
Mall crawlers and posers just annoy me. :2cents:

P.S- Renegade YJs are ugly and stupid. Wide body kits are for Japanese vehicles, not jeeps. Just more useless s#!^ to rip off.

Right, right, back in the 70's most people spent 20k (now about 50k) on a luxury vehicle to work on their farms... :-)r

It's still the same type of audience, or market.
